My DH and I are really struggling with name choices this time around! We keep coming back to Lisa as an option - it's one I rarely hear anymore, but it's not totally out there/unusual either. Any thoughts? Our DS is Andrew, so also want something that goes well with that. Open to other suggestions as well!
Re: Thoughts on the name Lisa?
This. I have bad associations with it too.

It's my name and I like it!
I have heard it on a few young kids too. I think I've had about 3 or 4 Lisa's that were elementary school age subbing this year. One was short for Elizabeth. There is a girl at my home school (where I am when not subbing) named Lisa Elizabeth LN.
Thanks everyone - I think the fact that it seems a bit "outdated" is why we like it - want something that's not unheard of, but also not overly used today. The Lisa's I think of are Lisa Kudrow, Lisa Simpson, and a good friend of mine from high school - all good associations for me! My middle name is also Elizabeth, so it would be a way to pass on a family name as well.
We may consider using the full name Elizabeth, and calling her Lisa as another option.
The other girl names we like are Anna and Alison (Ali). Anna is our favorite, but I still struggle with the sibset of Anna and Andrew - too similar in my opinion. My DH is not a big fan of Alison...so we're stuck!
given all this I'd totally use Lisa, is a really nice name
I think it's ready for a comeback! (my real name is Lisa) :P
I think it's cute, unique enough these days because people don't really use it, but everyone will know how to say/pronounce/spell it.
Go for it!
My best friend is a very attractive, very smart and cool person and her name is Lisa. So positive association from here!
And it does go nicely with Andrew.
