Weekend plans?

I like to know what other people with young kids have planned, because it often gives me ideas.

Other than the regular old boring stuff (errands, working out), I think we may finally visit the College Park Aviation Museum. We may tie it into a trip to Ikea and maybe Hard Times. Yum.

  • We're taking the kids to see Steve Songs at Jammin Java in Vienna tomorrow.  DS loooves Steve Songs.  DH's brother got DS the CD/DVD and he's really into it.  Should be fun!

  • I think we're just going to sit at home and relax most of the weekend.  I have an afternoon thing planned with some coworkers tomorrow, and DH is going to get the taxes done.  Those are the only real "plans"...

I may end up driving to Richmond to see my cousin and her baby, and offer to help with their toddler for a day.  The baby is in the hospital after some serious complications following a surgery this week....  I am thinking that I'll probably postpone the trip, though - I'd probably wind up being more in the way at this point, until things stabilize and settle down.

  • Tomorrow, we're relaxing in the AM and then have swim lessons at 10am. I'm trying to embrace the idea of a lazy Saturday morning hanging out in jammies with the kids, after reading last Friday's posts about how lots of people have pancake breakfast and hangs out. That sounded so nice and cozy but so opposite my go-go-go personality.

Anyway, we have swim lessons at 10am and then during naps tomorrow, I'll probably run a few errands. Tomorrow night, we'll probably just get takeout and watch a movie.

Sunday, we have our usual errands--Target, Costco, etc. And then, of course, watch the Superbowl--Go Pats! I also need some time this weekend to start getting ready for our trip next weekend. On Friday, we're driving up to Philly to stay for two nights to go to the Please Touch Museum and Smith Play Place.

  • Have fun! I feel like I should warn you that CPAM is not anywhere near on the level of the National Air and Space Museum, if that's what you're expecting. But it's also why I like it. It's the perfect size for toddlers and usually empty.

We don't really have any kid-related plans. The aforementioned baby naming, but M&FIL are watching C for that. DH and I might sneak a private lunch before we pick him up. Sunday DH is having some family over to watch the game.

We took DD to Philly a while back, and she loved it!  I think we'll plan another trip there soon.

  • the car show is in town and DH is taking DS on saturday morning. they go every year. DS really likes it and was quite peeved when i told him they weren't going this year.

DD has a playdate coming over tomorrow morning.

  • DH's cousin is coming over Sat. am to watch Tessa, so I'll be doing laundry and reading if possible :)  Maybe run afternoon errands?  DH and I might go out for dinner if FIL is up for babysitting.

Sunday afternoon we're supposed to get together with another cousin and her kid for a few hours, then maybe drop by a nearby Super Bowl party for an hour or two (before the game) before DD's bedtime.

  • Tonight - nothing too exciting, making homemade pizza and baths.  DH ad I have two episodes left in Dexter season 4 and I have a feeling at least 1 will be watched.

Tomorrow - friend is coming over for breakfast and to pick up the last of the newborn items she is borrowing.DH is doing lunch with the kiddos while I go have tea with my two BFFs.  DH's aunt and uncle and possibly cousins are coming over for dinner.

Sunday - play date in the morning and Superbowl Party in the afternoon. Go Giants!

  • Tonight - I am going to let DH handle dinner and bedtime and watch Grey's Anatomy on DVR from last night. I heard it's terrible, but I don't care.

Tomorrow - I am supposed to volunteer for the DC Diaper Bank Drive in Bethesda at Whole Foods. We'll see if I am feeling better.

Sunday - I have a massage scheduled at 2 and then we're making chili.

  • My FIL is getting married to the woman he left my MIL for (his high school girlfriend, they reconnected on facebook, he ran off when MIL busted him).  The bride has stage 4 breast cancer.  We all have to stay in the same hotel in Alexandria.  THey booked a party room so everyone can drink all weekend.  They're having inter-generational trivial pursuit starting at 8 tonight, wedding tomorrow, reception at a French restaurant.  I haven't been there, but from the website it looks really un kid friendly (DS and at least 1 other small child will be there) and there's nothing on the menu I can eat (I have GD).  I'm planning on hanging out in the room or at the pool with DS and ordering a lot of room service.

  • Well, we're throwing a Super Bowl party Sunday so we'll be shopping and cooking for that. I might try and go ice skating tomorrow or Sunday morning. Go Pats!

    You win.

That sounds like such a *fun* time.

LOVE the Please Touch Museum!  You'll have a blast!

Seeing as we have a 10 day old, we'll be staying inside most of the weekend.  But tomorrow morning I'm doing M's newborn photo shoot while DS goes to a bday party with Daddy.  Sorry, no fun ideas here!
