Babies: 9 - 12 Months

How much do you remember about being PG?

Everyone tells me that you forget how it was to be pregnant after you have the baby (like it's some biological way of insuring that we'll reproduce again), but I still remember everything - the ms, sciatica pain, the gas, the heartburn, my aching feet...Heck, since I gained about twice what I was expecting to, I still have issues with my feet and ill fitting clothes.  Most of these people are older women (like mom and mil) so I think they're just forgetting generally. LOL

Re: How much do you remember about being PG?

  • Yeah it's still pretty fresh for me too. I was 4 1/2 months pregnant this time last year and just starting to show, actually I was just starting to wear maternity clothes. I can remember the heartburn, which was at the end of my pregnancy and the swelling of the feet/ankles, and that my bra felt like a knife on me cutting me into pieces, that was probably the WORST part for me :)

  • I remember every detail. The m/s in 1st tri, the cravings in 2nd tri, and the sciatic nerve pain and Braxton Hicks contractions in 3rd tri. No way I could forget!
  • Enough that I don't even want to think about being PG again anytime soon! I guess if you had a REALLY easy pg it might be easy to forget, but there is no way I will ever forget how bad my M/S was or poking myself 4 times a day because of my GD
  • I had an easy time and I remember it vividly.  I think it's labor they think you forget.  I can remember that it did hurt...but I can't reach back and touch that feeling...I can't feel it anymore.
  • I still remember everything, and labor and delivery as well.  I didn't have a particularly difficult pregnancy, but I have no desire to do it again!  Particularly because you end up with a screaming newborn for 3 months after that as well...
  • I'm still amazed everyday when I look down at my feet and see bones! I can still remember what it felt like to not be able to bend my leg at the knee, the sore boobs, the nasty heartburn, and the coughing fits I had at the end. I don't think it will deter me from getting pregnant again, but I definitely hope I can avoid all those things next time!
  • I had a c-section, but I did go into labor. I remember that pain vividly.  I thought it was gas at first, but I'd never felt like I was taking a beatdown from gas before.  It really was enough for me to say "you know, although we definitely want more kids, I'm completely happy with just the one!"
  • I had a pretty easy pregnancy and I vividly remember the sudden puking, how immensely huge my feet were, and the horrible shooting pains in my inner thighs/crotch the last month or so.  But looking back I don't think it was as bad as I thought it was then...the exhaustion that comes with pregnancy makes bad things magnified, at least for me.
  • Other than the severe nausea from weeks 5-8 and the insomnia in the 1st tri (that returned briefly at the end of the 2nd tri), my pregnancy was great.  So, there's really not much to forget.
  • I had really bad carpal tunnel in my hands.  Sleeping was terrible b/c my whole hand and most of my arm would go numb! I also remember monitoring my urine for my pre-e.  Which was SOOO fun...yeah right. I look back at pictures and OMG I was so swollen.  I was so embarassed when one of the Dr.'s I work for said "Wow...your face is so swollen"...well geez.  Thanks!  However, with all that said, I can't wait to do it again!

  • Yeah, yesterday I saw my bedside bottle of Milanta and thought, "Gee wiz, this time last year you were my constant companion."  And the boots DH used to have to zipper for me ... to squeaze my ankle into them .. yeah, today they are super loose around the ankle.  Clearly remember all of it.
My darling daughter just turned 4 years old.
