Mastitis Blows

I started having symptoms around 10:30 (just a really sore breast).  I was feeling fine at noon other then my boob.  By 1:30, my entire body felt like it got hit by a truck and I was shivering so bad I couldn't hold the baby.  I started antibiotics around 4, but still have a fever of 103 despite ibuprofen.

On top of DS have reflux and screaming for hours on end, we are a hot mess up in here. 

Luckily my mom had dropped by and could stay the afternoon until DH got home.  Poor man.  It's going to be a rough night.

    I could have just made a post about this! Mastitis is a total b****. I'm right there with you. Hopefully it gets better soon.

    I can't wait to get antibiotics tomorrow when I go to the doctor.. This feels worse than the flu and somehow I still have to feed and take care of LO. My house is a complete mess today and I didn't get around to changing her outfit for half the day, which now I've just taken off because I'm so hot I don't want her overheating while being fed/held.

    If your fever's still that high, try taking a hot bath. It might help some and at least provide some temp. relief.

    I just got over having mastitis.  I had the same thing, I was shivering so bad and yet my temp was almost 103!  I went to the doc the next day, got on antibiotics, and within like a day or two I was completely back to normal.  Nurse like crazy because your LO will help rid you of mastitis as well!  Hope you feel better soon!

    Did the antibiotic change the color your LOs' poo?

    This morning LO's poo is more of a brownish yellow (or DH said one diaper was a brownish green) instead of the typical yellow I am used to seeing.

    I don't know if it is the antibiotic I am taking or the zantac LO started.

    I had mastitis and didn't even know it.  What helped me was a heating pad, lots of clothes, a space heater, and pumping!  I eventually sweat it out and was able to pump enough to relieve the pressure.  I apparently had it twice during the first few weeks! I hope you feel better!

    I had it twice with DS1 and got it the first week home this time with DS2.  It does totally suck.  You can stop it from coming on though... if you start to feel that breast pain, massage the crap out of your boobs, and use hot compresses.... it is from a clogged duct a lot of the time, so if you can massage it out you can prevent it from coming.
