1st Trimester

possibly pregnant? maybe tmi but i'm confused.

I'm on birth control to help with my periods, and now they're regular. Only problem is I haven't had one since Dec. 11, 2011. I have had very small dime sized spots of blood [twice], enough for a liner but not enough to really call it a period. It wasn't RED like a period either. I've taken two tests and I am gonna take a third to be sure, but both of the tests came out negativeTongue Tied. But I swear I could see a VERY faint line, my fiance said he didn't see anything. I haven't been overly excercising or stressed out. But I've noticed my pants are kinda tighter [i don't need a belt for my jeans anymore], Ive been peeing about the normal amount of times throughout the day and I've been feeling different. I've had about 4 cases of bad nausea Ick![but I'm still hungry through the whole ordeal] but I haven't thrown up and have been rather moodySuper Angry. I counted it all up and I'd be almost 8 weeks along but I don't have any other symptoms. I'm in college and can't afford the doctor visit and I know for a fact if I go to the doctor my family would be very angry at even the possibility of me being pregnant and they'd be even madder and very disappointed if I wasSad. ANYONE have ANY idea if I could be pregnant or not? Has anyone had negs until they were farther along. I've looked up everything and give up. Thanks.Geeked

  • If you were 8 weeks, it would definitely be showing up on a test. When did you take these negative tests?

I'd take another one tomorrow with first morning urine.

You need to call your Dr. - this isn't a time to be worried about what your family will think. If you're a college student, can't you go to the health clinic?

Also, not to scare you, but even if a line is faint, it means there is some of the pregnancy hormone in your blood.

    Good luck!

  • were not drs.  do a test again or see a doctor.  sorry.at 8 weeks you would have an accurate result, however as you said you had issues with your period previoulsy you could have ovulated later.

If you see a line, light/faint its positive.  I would retest again.

  • At this point, a negative test means you're not pregnant.

  • This exact thing happened to me in December. I expected my period on Dec. 12, and only had brown spotting on that day. Nothing for the rest of the week. I was on birth control, but missed one pill, so when I never really got my period, I could have sworn I was pregnant. I kept taking tests and they call came back negative. My husband and I decided that I would go off the pill just in case I was pregnant. I went to the doctor, took blood tests, and still they were negative. I got all excited about the possibility of being pregnant again that I couldn't get it off my mind, which is why we decided to start trying last month to get pregnant. And voila, we're pregnant. Anyway...back to your question. When I missed my period, the doctor said it's very normal for this to happen (even though it hadn't happened to me in the 12 years I have been on the pill). So I wouldn't freak out quite yet. If you really saw a line, then you're pregnant. Do you have a health center at your college? They can do blood tests for you there if you really want to make sure you are (or aren't) pregnant. Good luck!

  • I would suggest taking another test just to be sure.  But this time use a different test brand than last time.  Usually if you can even see the faintest line, or faintest plus sigg, it means the pregnancy hormone is present.  I know it's scary but this isn't the time to stress out and worry about what your family thinks.  You need to take care of yourself first and foremost.  Just a side note tho, not to scare you... but I was also on birth control for over 10 years when I got pregnant.  Good luck with everything!  :)

  • If you've been consistent with your birth control it's highly unlikely that you're pregnant, especially if you're getting negative pregnancy tests. If you miss another period I definitely recommend going to see the doctor. Make up a reason for your family that you're going. They're not going to tell your family why you were there. The other option would be a clinic, but they are more likely to just use a urine test and tell you what you already know. If you see a doctor then you can trouble shoot why you're not getting your periods.
  • I agree that if you are really not sure, take a blood test. However, I can tell you from personal experience stress will whack out your periods, bc or not. Try not to over-think or you will start creating symptoms subconsciously.

  • Yeah. I had a few periods like that last year. I kept thinking I was pregnant. Turns out I was really anemic. Go get your iron and hemoglobin checked. If you're 8 weeks, you'd be getting clear positives.

Then and now. How did my boy get so big?

  • My LMP was also Dec 11th and I got my +HPT on December 6th.  At almost a month later, you'd 100% see a positive test right now.  You're not pregnant.

  • I agree with all the previous posters. It's time to see a Dr. Go to your school's health clinic. Planned Parenthood and others like them offer free pregnancy tests. Google free pregnancy test in your area and you will find a place.
  • Go to a planned parenthood or another similar clinic. Most of them will provide free exams, all kinds of testing and birth control for little to no cost. Also, make sure you are taking the pregnancy test first thing in the morning...you may or may not be pregnant, but your body is obviously trying to tell you something! Good luck.
