S/O: Shrink Image to Print as 4X6?

If I shrink the size of an image, will I be more likely to crop it the way I want and fit it into a 4X6?

    Depends on the original image. It may distort the image if you make it that small. Is it in a jpg format?

    Yes, it's a JPG. But it doesn't look like shrinking it is making any difference. Boo.

    i would take the original image and crop it proportionally to 4x6, so in photoshop, you could open a new image size 4 in x 6 in at 200 resolution and then drag the image over and resize within that window. ideally, you don't want to go below 180 resolution for a clear print.

    Thanks for the offer and the tip! I gave up and picked a different photo. But I must learn more about this when I have more time. I am eternally aggrivated at the way my photos have to be cropped for printing!

    what kind of camera are you using?  my old olympus used to take pictures in a 4x5 format (I think that was the ratio), and I had to recrop them afterwards.  You can usually adjust your camera's settings so that it automatically takes them in a 4x6 ratio instead.
