My nephew, my one beloved nephew, turns one at the end of this month. You wouldn't think I would need boy gift suggestions since I have one myself, but I'm just fresh out of ideas.
My sister always gets my son the coolest and most creative stuff and I want to get him something great.
Guidelines: $50ish or less; prefer it not to be a noise/music/crazy lights toy (but if it's really great, give it to me); he already has a Haba push cart, so nothing to push. It doesn't have to be super "boy"--gender neutral is fine, just something that would appeal to a very curious, very adventurous 1 year old, who also likes to do seated activities.......very specific, I know. Ha!
Re: Help! Creative/cool 1 year old boy gift
My sister got my boys Rodys for their 1st birthday. They still play with them today.

We got our nephew the Haba push toy and he loved it but it's expensive and you said no push toy.
Other things we got the Green Toys Dump truck, fire truck and recycle truck and he loves them.
We've also gotten tree bark colored pencils with a giant drawing pad (thank you m&m) that Em loves. We've also gotten finger paints with organic playdough a bib that Linc loved.
It would be super cute to get the dump truck and load it up with playdough and finger paints with a cute bib.
DD loves her tent and Rody! If you're into making something, I think this is totally cute:

You could even make it about just the two of you or something.
My Mom got Megan custom flashcards with everyone on our side of the family, they were awesome!

Even better if you got two of each person you could eventually use them to do matching games and play memory with!
Another rave for the Rody! Also, the FP music table or the FP laugh n learn farm are great toys for that age.
