Upstate NY Babies

s/o HLG AW

This may not seem like a huge deal to those who run, but I just finished week 5 of C25K...I am loving this program.  It really is like going from doing just about nothing, to jogging a decent amount in a short time, but it makes it fun.  I fell off the wagon a little when we were on our mini vacation this week with eating (because when I go away I like to eat and spend whatever I want :), but I am hoping to get back on track with that now.

  • That's awesome. I can't run to save my life. Any tips? I always quit around week 3 or 4. Why do those running minutes always feel soooooo long?!? haha

  • Awesome! I fell off the wagon after Christmas, but am slowly getting back into it thanks to this weather. We'll have to meet in the middle for a race someday! Wink

Do it outside and don't try to kill yourself with a too-fast pace. It finally dawned on me that the reason I hated running so much before was because I always tried to do too much too soon. Also, I learned very quickly once it got cold that I detest the treadmill. I force myself on there when I have to, but I'd much rather be outside in the cold.

All of this exactly!!  I do much better outside, with some great tunes!  I found that once I get past week 3 or so, it gets easier and I get more motivated.  I like that it is something that I can do in a relatively short amount of time.  My Dad (who is like 65) does 5Ks just about every weekend, so I figure, why can't I???  I will never be a marathon runner, or even a 1/2 one at that, but I would love to regularly be able to run 5Ks.  I jog slow as well..

  • WAY TO GO! Week 5 is hard- that last run is brutal. But once you can do that the rest of the program is "easy".
