I'm 37. I start NST at 32 weeks. I'm not getting them for age. I have GD and I'm on insulin and they're concerned about baby's size. I also have a history of recurrent pregnancy loss, thyroid disease, asthma ans a clotting disorder.

I will be 37 when I deliver and I have had 2 but it was because I was having a lot of back pain and they wanted to monitor. Other than that no one has brought up additional NSTs.
I began having them weekly at 36wks. due to age. I was told at the beginning of my pregnancy that my age (35) was the criteria used for increased testing/monitoring and that it was up to me if I wanted the extra stuff. Therefore, I have had the genetic counseling, the increased sonograms (one every six weeks), and now the weekly stress tests. It has actually worked out very well for me as I suffer from anxiety and have not been medicated throughout the pregnancy. The extra reassurance that everything is ok in there and peace of mind has been a blessing! However, keep in mind that the more you have done, the more you have to pay. Each sonogram comes with about an extra $200 payment after insurance and I'm not yet sure how much each of these NSTs will cost.

I remember having a few toward the end with DD when I was 33, and had none with DS when I was 35. In fact, my age was never mentioned as a risk factor my whole second pregnancy.

Re: Pregnancy over 35 NST
I am 37, pregnant with my first and was told I would start having weekly NSTs at 35/36 weeks.
ETA: And yes, just because of my age.
