1st Trimester

Nauseated all day but hungry all day

I am 6 weeks prego. Food in general is so not appealing to me. I have hardly an cravings mostly aversions. To top it off I am nauseated from morning to night which makes it even harder to get myself to eat. I am also having a hard time finding sources of protein to eat since chicken and eggs are so gross to me. Can anyone relate? Food suggestions?

Re: Nauseated all day but hungry all day

  • With my first child I couldn't eat much of anything until i was 20 weeks but what i was able to keep down was crackers, light pasta meals, rice and a lil bit of fish. I would also have to lay on my side to eat but im not sure if its good to do that but it worked for me and now at 12 weeks im able to eat alot more foods which i am very happy about.

BTW: Always drink alot of fluid and take your prenatalsBig Smile

  • Unfortunately, I have no food suggestions for you. I'm in the same boat you are. I'm nauseous all day and all night. I have no aversions, just no real appetite since I'm always nauseous. I've already lost 2 pounds. I haven't had this happen to me before. I don't like it. Yuck!
  • The only time I feel okay is when I am eating. 10-15 mins after eating I am back to being miserable. I "graze" all day long now just to keep my tummy from being upside down. Try really small (handful) snacks. Almonds, pasta salad, cheese & crackers. I know none of them sounds good at the time, but it does feel better to have something in your tummy. Just try not to let yourself feel too hungry and you might feel a bit better.

  • I'm nauseous 24/7 but I've found that trying to snack often keeps the tummy somewhat settled. I usually munch on salteen crackers, trail mix and english muffins with honey & peanut butter. Pizza works too....if its Bready then it's more filling and that seems to help me a lot. I've been bad with my water intake. But I usually sip on ginger ale, Gatorade and water during the day.
  • I had 2 pregnancies where I was horribly sick, vomiting 10+ x's a day. I couldn't eat anything and keep it down.  I finally wised up in the 3rd preg and realized what began the vicious cycle was not eating b/c nothing sounded good.  I would snack on a cracker or two at a time and as the pp said, it kept my stomach settled if I would graze throughout the day.  I felt horribly guilty b/c prenatals aggrivated the nausea and I wasn't eating right so I did find I could drink the vanilla ensures.  Good luck to you, hope you feel better soon:)

  • Hi There!

I am also six weeks along and decided last night to make a "pregnancy survival kit" since I work full-time at a desk.  My kit included things that helped with nausea and that I could stomach. This is what I have in my basket!

     -Whole grain saltine crackers

    -Unsweetened applesauce

    -Reduced fat cheezits

    -Decaf tea- peppermint and papaya

-Sugar free candies (to suck on)

-Whole grain bagels and peanut butter

-Tooth brush, mouth wash, and tooth paste (for when I do get sick)

and I try to bring in a banana in the morning.  These foods are mild and I am trying to eat them slowly but frequently throughout the day. It has helped a lot with my nausea and my exhaustion.  I am sure everyone has specific preferences, but this is what is working for me!
