Question about EDDs. WWYD?

So my earlier u/s EDD at 8w5d was August 10th.  The past two u/s from 11 weeks and this week both gave EDDs of August 5-6th.  Baby is measuring about 4-5 days ahead of the original EDD.  I know that u/s later in pregnancy are not good at determining EDD, but what about early ones that are different by almost a week?   I would just prefer to be given the most amount of time allowable to go into labor, since I went until 41w1d with DS...

Would you keep the earliest one or the most recent one?  Thoughts?

Re: Question about EDDs. WWYD?

  • Since the hospital I VBACed in wouldn't let me go past 41 weeks, my midwife always used the latest EDD on my paperwork to give me the best chance of going into labor myself.  So, I'd go with the farthest due date to be conservative.

  • I would take the latest due date possible because I also can't go past 41 weeks without being induced or having a RCS.  My EDD from my LMP is 5.26.12 but at my first prenatal appt. my doctor (who knew I wanted VBAC) did a dating and estimated 5.30.12.  We went with the later date to give me the most time possible.

THIS!!!  I actually wish I had lied about my LMP, to give myself a couple extra days.  I'm measuring right on schedule, so they wouldn't have even noticed a couple of days.   Kicking myself for being too honest.

  • Thanks for the input ladies! Smile  I think I will request they stick with my later EDD of 8/10 at my appt next week.  I don't think it will be an issue since they know I want a VBAC.  I do know they will let me go until 42 weeks, so I've got some cushion there at least...

EDIT:  (UPDATE)  Well at my appt today, they showed me all of my u/s date measurements since 8 weeks.  All of them pointed to 8/6.  The only one that gave 8/10 was the 6 week u/s, which they said is not as accurate as u/s dating between 7-10 weeks.

So, looks like August 6th it is.  I'm not too worried, as I don't really see myself getting to 42 weeks but I am a tad bummed to lose a few days LOL.  They did say we could fudge it back to 8/10 if needed though, so at least they're being flexible Yes
