Healthy Living Check-In

Not sure how everyone is feeling this week so I thought I would post this time.

How did your week go? What are you finding works for you right now? What do you need to find a new solution for?

QOTD: What kind of exercise would you never be caught doing?

Re: Healthy Living Check-In

  • Exercise - none unless you count chasing the dogs or playing with the kids.

    Eating - awful.

I discovered Gardein chick'n scallopini which has added more protein to my diet, yay for more protein!  I really haven't eaten much this week, stress has been a big factor, I don't eat (am not hungry) when stressed.  I've lost 5lbs (yay!) this week which is bad because I know it's going to come back when the stress subsides (boo!).

QOTD: I would NEVER do one of those pole dancing exercise classes, I am too self conscious and would feel like a fat old lady.

  • Big fail.

I have done poorly bringing my lunch/snacks (which tend to be healthier and smaller portions than what I get in the cafeteria.) Every week night has been crazy this week which means I have either fluxuated between not eating dinner at all and eating McDonalds (yea, I caved to convenience.) Plus, I have made 2 Starbucks runs this week.

I pretty much hate every form of exercise.  I despise sweating. No to any type of dancing/aerobics/pole dancing.

  • Thanks for posting :)

I'm still struggling with the fact that Jen needs to be eating as much as she can and resting as much as she can, and I need to be limiting my calories and exercising like usual. I've always been the motivator when it comes to exercise and healthy eating, so I'm used to some difference in our habits/priorities, but being at polar opposites is tough. I wish I could magically get over it, but instead I just keep on keeping on.

I have worked out twice this week, and aim to get another one or two in. Twice is not great, but it's an improvement and I can feel the difference. Food has not been great - treats at work, etc. I have skipped five days in a row of writing down my meals. Sad Back on it today. I have been creatively getting veggies in and bringing my lunch, so it's not all bad.

QOTD: Rock climbing, skiing anything but a blue or green run, or basically anything that involves the risk of falling to my death. Scared of heights and the fear takes all the fun out of it for me.

  • Hello...I have logged all my food on my fitness pal everyday this week! :) If you are not a member, you should join...it's amazing and tracks everything for you.

Actually just rode the spin bike at school (I'm a teacher and get to use our gym)...

I need to drink WAY more water than I have been.

Nervous about eating bad for Superbowl  Huh?

I would never run a marathon..I despise running!

  • I have been honestly trying to make better choices.  But I have not been actively tracking food/counting calories/etc.  The only times I've been successful at losing weight have involved being much more actively engaged in the process.

I went to the gym once last week.  I tried to go two other times, but the universe said no both times.  (One day my car battery was dead when I walked out of work to head to the gym, and one day I was planning to go but I unexpected had to leave work to go to the doctor in the late afternoon.)

I went to the gym on Tuesday of this week, and am planning to go tomorrow.  Today would have been the logical day, but I was nervous about exercising on IUI day.  In general, I'm nervous about exercising while TWWing and pregnant too - I overheat while exercising really easily, and I am not in a great exercise routine and I know the general guideline is that you're safe to keep doing things you were doing before pregnancy.  But when that is pretty much nothing..... :-P  Obviously I'm jumping the gun on planning for pregnancy, but it's in my head.

Leap, I know what you mean about it being difficult when you and DW are not on the same page.  Obviously your situation is quite different, but I know that DW and I always do best at eating healthy/dieting/whatever you want to call it when we're both doing it and do worse the more dissimilar our efforts are.

  • My week has gone pretty well, actually!  I've lost weight every week since I started WW (on my 5th week now).  The last few days I haven't tracked my food.  I didn't weigh myself.  So this morning I thought I should so I can get back on track.  I've lost 2 lbs in 2 days! Nice.  As long as I menu plan (and plan for snacks and daily ice cream), I tend to do really well.  My next goal is to start exercising.  I'm scared (because of my back injury).

AOTD:  I can't think of anything!

  • I had a better week than I was anticipating.  Stress is the #1 threat to my healthy eating and I certainly had a lot of stress (and slip-ups) this week.  Thankfully I didnt go too far off the wagon and still lost .8 for a total of 6lbs. Slow and steady...

QOTD: yeah, pretty much ditto everyone else.  Rock climbing, running, pole dancing - all not for me.  But thats mostly b/c I'm not in shape...if I were, I'd probably be up for anything.  Except for those tough mudders.  ew.
