Just wondering if there are any other part time single mommies out there? My hubby travels a lot so me and LO fly solo much of the time. How do you cope?
This is going to come off super snarky, and I apologize in advance, but I really hate when people call themselves single moms just because their husbands travel.
You are NOT a single mother. You have someone that can help you, someone that can give you a break, someone that you can lean on when times get tough, even though your husband might not be there 24-7 he is still there!
I am a single mother. I raise my son by myself every single day. I have no breaks, I have no help, I am alone. His father gets him 4 days out of the month for 10 hours each day he has him, and I am in the middle of a very ugly custody battle that has put so much stress on me it caused my supply to tank and I could not breast feed my son.
So just because your husband travels doesn't mean you're a single mother. He will still come home.

My hubs travels for work as well. Sometimes I have a really rough time with it and other times I'm ok, I guess it just depends on a what kind of day I've had. I don't really have any suggestions for coping just wanted to say I'm in a similar situation as you, Momto4cats.

Hi. I get what you are saying and don't think you meant to offend true "single" moms.....what should we call ourselves.....I don't know, "alone for the time being mommies" Anyway.....H doesn't travel, but he doesn't get home until 8pm at the earliest. That leaves me home alone M-F doing everything by myslef for my 3 kids. I do ok throughout the day, but evenings have been really rough. I'm going to start having our 14 year old babysitter come over Tues and Thurs evenings for 1.5 hours to help me with bath and bedtime. The baby tends to like to nurse through this time, and the boys need help with baths, teeth, and then we try to read books...it's so hard trying to nurse the baby and hold her and do all of this. So, getting a mother's helper is 1 way I plan on coping better!!! GL!!

Yeah but she is also a mom to 4 cats.
Sorry, I know I shouldn't have snarked..but I couldn't resist with the sn. I agree with your sentiments above, bc I had a single mother.

Thanks for the thoughts, it's nice to know others are in a similar situation. I am solo as it were for about a month at a time. And I work full time my LO is in daycare about 11 hours a day. He's like a Marine, first in and last out, lol.
I certainly meant no offense to true single moms I was simply trying to feel a little less alone in my situation. In fact I suppose you could say I have been in your situation, however I was the child not the parent. I saw my mother struggle with trying to be a mom and a dad. I wish you all the best in your life and hope things get a bit easier. Be strong for your little one, he will admire you for it later in life, trust me on that one.
