screaming burper

The past few days, every time I burp DD she screams bloody murder. I know she has to burp, and she eventually does most of the time. Sometimes I give up and give her back the bottle. She has only spit up once and it was because she drank an entire bottle without being burped. She did have her shot on tuesday and she has been a grouchy tater since then. The screaming started before the shots though. Any ideas on why she would start this out of the blue? Anyone else's LO do the same thing?

Re: screaming burper

  • Does she have any other symptoms of reflux?  My LO has reflux and when its not controlled he SCREAMS for burping.  He has done this since he was 4 weeks old though.

My pedi says reflux gets worse before it gets better and often sees it get worse around 3 and then again at 6 moths.  Just a total guess, but if she has other symptoms maybe she has mild reflux and its just starting to bother her more now.

  • Mine has always done this too :/ sometimes I think bc shes still hungry and thinks she's never getting milk ever again, and sometimes bc the burp/tummy is painful.

  • My LO does this as well, but the actual burps don't seem to bother her as much as getting her into the burping position.  She starts fighting and "planking" when I take the bottle away and try to sit her on my lap or put her over my shoulder.  Does your LO take a pacifier?  What we do is put a pacifier in LO's mouth long enough to calm her down and get her into the burping position.  After that, the burps come up pretty easily.

That's a good idea about putting the paci in to get her calm enough to get in the burping position. I'll have to try that!
