We are the crazy cat family. We have 4 cats, we came into our relationship each with 2. It doesn't seem like a lot until you go to the store to buy food and litter and spend 35/week.

I know the feeling! I've got one less, but one probably poops enough for 2 (poor guys got GI probs).
I grew up with a million pets; like 4 cats, a dog, a parrot; fish, lizards, hamsters, bunnies, chicken, a duck, we even had a horse for a while.
DH never had a pet until he met me.
We have one cat as a compromise and it works for us. When I start feelin like the girls are missing out on animal life, I send them to my sister's house, she has dogs (she used to breed jack russels!), chickens, goats and a fish or two.

I have 3 dogs. A beet hound named Daphnie, a female long haired mini daschund named Mika and a male short haired mini daschund named Bruiser. At one point DH and I had 4 ferrets, 4 guinea pigs (one of them was pregnant when we got her, that's how we went from 2-4), 2 cats, a dogs, a sugar glider, 2 rats and 2 bunnies. I grew up with pets, as did my parents. WHen I was little we even had a pet squirel named Skeeter. He was awesome. I have never been without a pet in my life. When our dogs all die I wantto see what it's like not having pets, but that will be in like 10 years. DH really wants to get ferrets again but their poop smells like amonia (spelling?) even when we cleaned their cage every other day. Maybe when the boy is old enough to want his own pet we'll get him a ferret and make him clean the cage.
And the PP who said she had the crazy cat house, not even close. DH's parents have 16 cats right now. It's kind of weird because MIL is obsessively clean, like seeing a therapist for it. She's like the counselor on Glee, not exagerating. I don't know how she does it with 16 cats and 2 dogs.
We have 3 dogs...a 13 year old female chocolate lab named Mocha, a 7 year old male weimeriner named Maverick, and a 6 year old female toy yorkie named Martini (we call her Tini).
We have 2 dogs...an Italian mastiff/pit mix and a smaller blue pit mix. They mainly stay outside now with LO around. Also one house kitty. Outside there's 14 chickens, 3 ducks and 2 turkeys...hopefully goats to come in the spring.

I'm not trying to be a story topper or anything, but my MIL currently has 18 cats and 7 of her own dogs. Plus, when DH's stepdad comes over (MIL and step-FIL are still really close but divorced) he might bring his 4 dogs, plus if I bring my dog... holy crap. It gets to be insane.
MIL & step-FIL also do fostering, so there is usually a puppy or two (sometimes a whole litter at MIL's) a few times a year.
We have two pains in butt, AKA indoor cats (both are DSH). I never had problems with my inside/outside cats growing up. But these two are bad! Sambvca, the biter, is almost 9, and Brandy, the counter surfer, is almost 4. The 2 cats and my DD all have birthdays in the same month. The tradition in our house is that the pet is named after one of the bottles of liquor on top of our fridge. Of course we went with something a little more classy for our kid's names.

Border collie/lab/shepard/mutt, (2 yrs old) and a cat (6 yrs old)
So far, the dog has chewed up one bottle, two burp cloths, a giraffe, 2 hats, and one bf shield... The hat was our fault because we gave her baby's awful hospital hat to smell and get used to. The giraffe was our fault because she's never had other "toys" around that weren't hers.. The other stuff was just... tasty?
We have a dog named Zeke. He is a husky/corgi mix. He is awesome looking, but he is a terrible dog. He will eat anything. I am going insane trying to prevent him from eating something that will subsequently kill him. Bah.

We live with FI's parents and they have a dog but when we move out we wont have any unless DD wants a fish or something when she is older because FI is allergic to cats and I hate dogs.

Re: Pet clicky
I've got Emmie, the Bichon who is almost 14 (although she lives at my parents house because she's a bit neurotic, as are most Bichons).
Selby, the Pembroke Corgi, who is 7.
Jim, Dwight & Andy are my cats (ages 3, 4 & 6 months). Jim & Andy are short hairs and Dwight is a long hair.
I had some sibling hamsters recently (Elmer & Eleanor) but I don't think I'd get them again. Good cat entertainment though.

Baby Boy #2 is on the way!
We have Roxy, the rottweiler - she's 4 and Cai, our cat who is about 1-1/2.

I've got Leia, the kitty I adopted from my vet's office. Here's a picture of her in her Halloween costume.
