?I think people would have been happy to have a referendum on civil rights rather than fighting and dying in the streets in the South.? - Chris Christie.
TTC with PCOS since July 2011.
IVF Oct/Nov 2012
Beta #1 = 77, Beta #2 = 190, Beta #3 = 1044
Cautiously optimistic.
Looking forward to being married in my third state! (Someday, I will visit my home state - Kansas - and be married there too.)
I'm guessing it will end up on the ballot in November, since the required number of signatures isn't very big. Do you know what the outlook is on that?
WOOHOO!!! I have never been prouder to be a lifelong Washington resident. I'm actually quite amazed that it's happening now. I thought it might be many more years before we'd get there. I'm really impressed that our governor took the lead to put this forward before she leaves office.

Yes, sadly I think this is VERY likely. Our state is split down the middle by the Cascade mountain range which for the most part divides it politically as well. Western WA tends to vote more liberally, Eastern WA is staunchly conservative. However, seeing that there were a few republicans who crossed the aisle on this vote (including one who hails from the 'burb I live in) gives me a bit of hope. Though I'm not all up in politics (what mom has time for this?) you better believe I took the time to send a thank you email to that state senator as a resident of her home town in appreciation of her vote.

This is SO important. My MIL called one of her state senators at one point in NY State to tell her about K, me, and J, and how we ARE a family. That senator ended up changing her mind and voting for same-sex marriage. These people need to know that most of society is on our side at this point - since their main drive, unfortunately, is often how many votes they'll get to be reelected...

YAY!! Go Washington go.
So much better than this, from my state:
