nbr: dog people

have you ever given your dog an antibiotic (per vet instructions)?

did it um.... stink up your house? his gas is seriously about to knock me out and that is all i can think of to blame - the antibiotic.

wondering if i should call the vet in the morning...

  • Yes, we had to give our pup antibiotics for kennel cough.

No, she didn't produce more significant gas than normal. lol.

    How's he feeling otherwise?

  • Excess gas???  Dear God, we would have to wear gas masks!  Bless your heart!  You can give them Gas-X (we give it to our rabbit all the time).  Maybe that would help?
  • Our cat crop dusted the house on the regular when he was on anxiety meds.  I think pets are like us, and can have random reactions to meds.  If he seems otherwise okay, I wouldn't worry about it.  But if he's not eating or drinking or acting odd, then call.

  • Thanks guys! He's acting normal other than the smell that makes me want to gag. Maybe I should give him some plain yogurt. Maybe that will make it worse...
  • Canned pumpkin works for my dog. Just a big spoonful. Well depending on the size of the dog. Mine is about 60 pounds

We use pumpkin if/when she's having tummy problems, too.

Be careful with the yogurt. Whichever antibiotic P's vet gave us said no dairy until she finished it.

good to know - i just left a vm with the vet to see what we can do

  • You're welcome! I always thought yogurt was a good mix for antibiotics, but apparently not always.

I hope you get a good answer from the vet.
