Wow, do I wish I hadn't gone in...
The ultrasound tech said she saw a gestational sac and maybe a yolk sac, but there wasn't anything else there. I know I'm early, but I'm definitely no earlier than what my ticker says. I just feel like she should have been able to at least see the yolk sac clearly at this point. Anybody have any stories of good outcomes when only seeing a gestational sac at 5 weeks, 3 days?
We did rule out twins though, unless perhaps they're identical.
So now it seems even more strange that my HCG was so high.
Uhg. I don't know. Now I just feel like I'm waiting for the worst to happen. My doc or nurse will call me tomorrow to discuss the results and schedule another ultrasound. I hope I can do it on Monday, I don't think my nerves can take it much longer than that.
Thanks for listening to me whine.
Re: Update: Doc called me in for an ultrasound...
That is about right for 5w3d. At 5w I saw a gestational sac & you are 3 days ahead of where I was back then & you see a yolk sac as well. That sounds good to me
I would try not to worry too much, I think you are in good shape! There are plenty of women on here that had super high betas & singleton pregnancies.

This exactly. Try not to worry too much.
That's really comforting!
It's discussed on the multiples board a lot, but high or low betas don't indicate anything regarding twins. Mine were much higher, but many folks had much lower betas with twins (or triplets!)
As for how far along you are, my doctors have never expected to see anything until 6w on the dot. At where you are, you should be able to see a sac (good) and *possibly* a yolk sac but not necessarily. A few days at this point can make a big difference. My first loss showed a sac only at 6w2d and that was much worse.
Hang in there, your betas are well within a normal range for a singleton. I haven't had an u/s before 6w so I don't know anything regarding that part but doubling numbers and development is a good sign!
