Lying to people about due date

It's obviously too late for all of us to do this, but a couple in my child birth class has been lying to all friends and family about their due date and telling people it's 2 weeks later than it actually is. I think this is genius! That way no one will be calling them and asking if she's still pregnant, etc. I want to do this with baby #2.

Thoughts??

Re: Lying to people about due date

  • I think someone on this BMB has done this...
    DD#1 11.7.07 - DD#2 11.2.10 (3rd Tri Loss)- DD#3 4.18.12

  • That's like what celebrities do to throw ppl off.
  • My aunt did this with her fourth. She went overdue with her second and third babies and she said the constant phone calls made her nuts, especially with her third daughter because we went over a week late. Of course her fourth baby was born on her due date!
    Married 7.9.05
    DD1 9.24.06
    DS 7.1.08
twins due 9.7.11 lost twin A at
    DD2 4.7.12
  • I don't think it is a horrible idea, but I wouldn't do it. I think my family would be pretty hurt if I did

i wish i could be joking but my dad is the music teacher at a church so he owuld be mad. we had sex, all the time how bad i know but we dont want to wait and he said GREAT OH KAY! and I was really feeling the wets? down there- too embarsed to say- but he acted like man.
  • No way would I do this. But I am in the "Thou shalt not lie" camp. I do my darndest to always tell the truth.

I am due April 4th, and I wish I could say I was due in March, since I am so huge, makes me sound farther along. (Since I am due so early in April).

  • I lied to Target so I could get my completion coupon sooner than later.. haahaha so when you pull up my registration it says I'm due the Monday after my last shower but then in the message section to people that print it I told them when I was really due. :)

  • Not a bad idea, but our families and friends are pretty relaxed and hands off, so I don't imagine I'll get a lot of stupid calls.

I lied about the date that my bar exam results would be posted in both states I took it in because I wanted a cushion to pout in peace if I failed (I didn't).  I think I did the same with my drivers test in HS - my home state (Maine) sent you a test date like two months out, so it was a big deal.

  • Instead of telling people my due date, I just say I'm due in "late April or early May." I feel like, as a FTM, I may easily go a week late and deliver in May, so it's not a lie. Due dates are just an estimate anyway.

  • I only bring up the actual day if someone persists in asking me. I always say I am due in April, and usually that is enough for people to leave me alone.

  • I think that's a good idea! But then you might get even more of those "oh wow you're really big" comments. I've just told people April. No date. It's vague and we're middle of the month anyway.

  • I don't see the point in that. If you don't want people doing the whole calling/asking thing just tell them not to. I went 2wks over due with DD2 and the first time someone asked I told them I'd let them know soon as I gave birth and I never got bugged about it again.

  • My due date is April 16th, but whenever people ask when I'm due I just say "April", because realistically it could be any time in April.

  • My H does this with his mother.  He never gave her the estimated due date, and depending on when he talks to her, he has told her that the baby is due in various weeks of April or May.  (I'm due 4/14).  I assume it is to prevent her calling constantly when I get closer to the date.  As far as I know she has never questioned the difference in dates.  However his sister does know the date, and has already planned a visit several weeks later, so I would think that his mother is aware at least that the date is before May.

That's exactly what I've been telling people. EDD is April 27th so I say end of April.
