Re: Stuck on a valentine idea for DD's school...

  • We'll probably do crayon hearts. We did them last year, but A's at a new school this year and he really wants to do them again.

No idea for N. At all.

  • Well, according to dd we are making chocolate cupcakes, filled with whipped cream. They will have pink frosting, silver dragees and a cherry on top.

oh la la! Cupcakes are banned at our school.

I was thinking of maybe making pink marshmallows hearts, but not sold on it.

  • in the $1 bin at target they had those mini grow cups with forget-me-nots.  I got enough for both classes. I'm trying to stay away from giving food and my kids love being responsible for making something grow.  cupcakes are banned at our school too.

  • we did the melted crayon shaped things for the christmas party.  For Valentine's I"m going the easy route and doing bags of Kettle Corn.
  • We do Pop Rocks with an sleeve that encloses them that says Valentine You Rock on the front and Happy Valentines Day and a space to write my sons name on the back.  The kids love those pop rocks but I am sure the parents aren't too happy!  I did it last year and saw similar things on Pinterest recently...

  • We just go the store bought route. We aren't allowed to hand out any treats or candy with it either, so we just go the easy and cheap way.

  • These look like fun!

They are Strawberry flavored candies that look pretty easy to make.

  • Love those candies.  I just repinned that for dd's birthday...in November!

We can do cupcakes because there will be a small party.  That's the only time food is allowed.

  • Goldfish crackers mini cartoons with a sign that says. Will you o"fish"ally be my valentine.

  • We're doing friendship bracelets with "our class would knot be the same without you" for DD and Hot Wheels with "I wheelie like you" for DS. We can't do anything edible either.
  • nothing edible. still trying to decide on what project i have the energy to take on!
  • Both ideas from pinterest.

ML wants to do the crayon hearts.  I'm going to combine two pinterest ideas, and take a photo of her and she'll be "holding" the heart (like the 3D lollipop idea), and it will say, "Color your heart out, valentine."  I'll have her actually write the words, then scan it in and add on top of the photo.

I'm making chocolate "bombs" for TB, a combination of chocolate balls, topped with a chocolate cheerio, and a marshmallow wick.  Putting it inside plastic baggies, with the card you staple on top (to close the bag), also with his picture saying, "You're the bomb, valentine."

  • We did the crayon hearts with "You color my world! Happy Valentine's Day, Love, M"

    Three crayons per card.

  • Sorry, hit the wrong button. That was supposed to quote a pp.

Oh, have you seen the Superhero Valentine? I think that one's cute too.

  • I was thinking this might be cute, totally taken from pin and the whole mustache thing being overdone, but oh well.  Take a photo of your kid wearing a mustache, with the phrase "I mustache you a question: will you be my valentine?"  You could also include an actual mustache (like the kind on a stick, or just a plastic one).
