On Saturday, one of my cousins posted a rant on FB that the 3 items she purchased off of a Target baby registry were paid for but they hadn't come off of the "available items" listing online and the 800 number for customer service wasn't being helpful in the least. She didn't say it was my registry, but I checked anyway to see if there were more things missing than the last time I looked (I'm SUCH a registry stalker!) I saw that there was one new item purchased (the Diaper Genie - yay!)
Looking this morning, it appears that even though as of Saturday the Diaper Genie was marked "purchased" on the online registry, someone bought another one and it just shows that two have been purchased.
I got two of the same item at my bridal shower (the same cousin was one of the purchasers, coincidentally) but in that case, I kept both because it was a big serving bowl that I could use a duplicate of. In this instance, I don't need two Diaper Genies... I dunno, I just feel bad that both guests at my shower who bought this gift for us will assume I returned their gift. They obviously won't know which one I'll end up bringing to the store to exchange, and no matter what they'll get a sincere Thank You note from me - but it's still awkward, at least it will be when I open the second one.
Bah. I guess I just wish Target.com would get its act together and update inventory more efficiently.
Re: Argh! Target Registry pissing me off
Oh, I won't even start on the OOS stuff - I've changed our crib mattress 3 times and the one on there currently is on backorder (which to me means I pick the best stuff since everyone else buys them up!)
At least with the mattress we have some time bc DD won't be sleeping in her crib right away. I wish more of our family members were computer-savvy, I would definitely have done one Amazon registry and left it at that. There are too many older aunties that don't know how to use computers, I had to go with stuff they could go to a store and pick up.
I'm so relieved this is the very last time I have to register for anything - its a real PITA!!
I had this same thing happen to me. I now have 2 strollers coming to me when I only asked for 1.
In defense of Targets registry (which they really don't deserve), I had it happen on my BRU one too.
We got 4 silverware sets ($80/pop) for our wedding from Target and it still never said that 1 had been purchased. It's already started happening with the baby registry and I've gotten 3 healthcare kits. Also, I was at my friends shower this weekend and she got 8 boppy covers!!!! really Target?!?
TARGET SUCKS! Their website is terrible. Their registry is terrible. I wish I didn't love their products so much!
At least 50% of the time I try to use the registry or add items, the pages won't load (for multiple computers) and of course I find something I love and it's out of stock indefinitely.
Sorry this happened to you OP, I agree it is very awkward for the person opening gifts to open two of the same thing! I haven't figured out the best thing to say yet other than "Yay, I'm really excited about this item, so cute!" or something dumb. Anyone have any suggestions for how to deal with this situation gracefully?
I just got off the phone with these f*ckers...only half of my items were showing up and those that were are out of stock. I'm sick seeing the # of items that are out of stock go up! Too bad my shower invites have already gone out - I'd cancel the registry at this point!
I got transferred to 2 different people, and neither were any help. The last guy either hung up on me or I got disconnected. Each one was completely stupid and didn't get what the problem was (or just didn't care). Their customer service is lacking.
I just always laugh it off and say, well "I guess THIS is going to be much needed." or "You guys know what I will DEFINATELY need." I just always compliment them on getting the popular gift!
