How many teeth?

So, how is your LO doing with teeth? Teething, already have one or more, or no signs?

Hadley has zero signs of teething as of yet, and I'm so thankful... I just dread seeing her hurting, so I don't mind it being a bit later than some. I also heard that the longer they wait to teeth the easier it is on them, hoping that its true!!

Re: How many teeth?

  • Saoirse has 4 already and I think she may be getting more! She got the first 2 on the bottom when she was 4 months old and the 2 on the top just before she turned 6 months. DH and I were both early teethers as children so it may be genetic but I don't know that for sure. She will probably lose them earlier as a child too, which may suck for her but we'll see. Plus they are super sharp and she has made teeth marks in many of her toys (and my fingers at times), so watch out when they do come in.

I used to nanny for a family whose children didn't get teeth until well after their 1st birthday! They ate table food and everything, just gumming it. Now one of them is 7 and she can't wait to losse her first tooth because all of her friends have been visited by the tooth fairy and she wants money. Too funny.

  • Brennan has her first two bottom teeth. They popped through a few days after she turned 6 months. I don't think it bothered her too much, I didn't really notice too much different behavior and one day they were just there! Hopefully the rest are that easy for her!

My mom said I cut my first tooth at 4 months, but also didn't lose my first tooth until I was 8 years old!

Yeah, I imagine that wait for the tooth fairy must suck! I got my first tooth at 2 months old and DH got his at 4 months, so when Saoirse got hers at 4 months I was not surprised. I only BFed her for a few weeks so teething was not an issue with that, but I am hoping to BF my next baby (due this summer) for a few months. GIven the history of teething and how sharp Saoirse's are, I'm nervous to go past 3 months!

  • we have six already. 2 have been out on the bottom for a number of weeks and then now there is one really out on top, two almost out, and the fourth on top is darn near out. It isn't been lots of fun.

I have wanted to ask b/c I don't think I'm "saying" your daughter's name right (in my head when I read it anyways)... how do you pronounce it?

  • Lots of teething symptoms.  No teeth.

  • No teeth yet. My DS didn't cut a tooth till he was almost a year old. He is 8 and just lost his front teeth. He was a little sad that all of his friends had lost them earlier. My DH was late with loosing his teeth too.

  • No teeth here yet, or any signs of them.  Part of me can't wait though because I am SOOO tired of people (our parents, friends, random strangers) watching him drool/chew on things and saying, "Ooooh he must be teething!"  Thanks, pediatrician-in-training, but he's not.  lol.

  • Audra has 2 so far.  The two bottom teeth showed up at right as she turned 6 months.  They didn't seem to bother her too much, I just hope it stays that way in the future!

  • Andy has 2 bottoms and I think he is working on a top tooth.  My tell tale sign that he is uncomfortable is extra crankiness, especially at night.  He also wakes/wines more than usual in middle of night.  He has been STTN since 5 months, so when this happens I know ones coming.

My ped puts it like this- people drool in their sleep, that doesn't make them teething!

  • None here. Mason just turned 6 months, one of the younger July babes. I am also tired of everyone claiming that he is teething because he drools and chews. He has been doing this for well over 3 months. There have been a few days (especially evenings) recently where he has been extra uncomfortable and more aggressive with his chewing (attacking his toys with his gums and crying). I think that this might mean something, but who knows. I did give him Tylenol when he was like this the other night, and it helped. I had no idea that the age you got your teeth had anything to do with when you lost them. You learn something new every day!

LMAO - this is totally us. Nary a tooth in sight and he's been a drooling/chewing machine since about 2mos yet everyone insists he MUST be teething because they can tell based on the 5 mins they've just spent with him.

FWIW my sister's youngest sprouted his bottom two teeth without any noticeable signs so teething doesn't have to be a dramatic process. She just happened to notice he had two teeth and was like, huh - when did you get those?! Such is the life of a third baby lol.

  • No teeth yet, but like everyone else he has been drooling and chewing like a madman for months now. There are days where I can tell his gums hurt and he's chewing more/harder, but still no sign of those pearly whites.

  • Magdalin has signs of teething but nothing yet and I'm grateful for that because last night she bit the crap out of my nipple and it hurt like hell. I'm dreading the teeth Sad

  • Katy has her two bottom teeth, and other than starting to want a pacifier at night, I didn't even notice they were coming in.
  • We have two as of yesterday! I will be glad when teething is over, she does not tolerate it very well :(
  • We have one little one on the bottom so far! It was not fun for him and totally messed with his sleep (and mine!).

I think there's another coming in soon since he is back to chewing on things like crazy!

  • Alexa started teething around 8 weeks. She just had the first tooth break through last Monday yay! This has been a horrible week though with this tooth coming in and she got her 6 month shots Tuesday and was super cranky after that.

I know, it's hard for everyone! DH and I love the name and when people hear it they love it too, but it's hard to pronounce unless you hear it a few times. It's SEER-sha. I can't wait to hear the way she tries to say it when she learns to speak.
