My mom told me the baby (15 mos) went and got a new diaper out of diaper bag and brought it over to her and my mom was confused...until she realized the baby was poopy. So....should I start trying to get her to sit on the potty when I see her do her pooping squat?

Emily is almost fully daytime PT now and we didn't even start with Abby until age 3. The potty has always been a fixture in our house and even though we "tried" to talk to Abby about the potty starting early, we weren't very consistant. Emily has been exposed frequently to all things potty because of Abby and also I think you just actively talk about everything more when you have 2 kids.
Go ahead and get a potty now and just have it around. We like the Froggy Potty, they also make it in a pink princess version now too. There are few nooks and crannies to clean compared to other potty chairs I've seen. We also LOVE the Potette for having in the car and we have one at home for our big potty. Abby is OK with sitting on the potty without it but she prefers it when she has to poop because she doesn't have to hold on!
I think when you potty train at the younger age, it's less about logic and more about feeling. It took a few times of Emily peeing all over her legs before she "got it". But she wanted to wear panties, so we'd let her. It's been a very gradual process and we're still working in the pooping part but I feel good knowing we're using a lot less diapers.
