I went to the grocery store this morning for a few odds and ends. When I rang everything up, an item that was supposed to be on sale wasn't ringing up that way. While the associate went to verify the sale, I bagged up all my groceries. When she came back, she not only fixed the price, but gave me one of the items for free (a store policy I didn't know about). I thanked her and, since I'd already bagged everything up, just walked out of the store. I got my car loaded and had just put my car into gear when I saw her walk out into the parking lot. After a brief moment, I realized that I'd never paid!!! I got out of my car and we headed back in to take care of it, but I was so embarrassed. She told me not to worry about it and that it was just pregnancy brain. That's the first time I've ever had to use that excuse.
Re: I almost stole my groceries!!
I worked retail for 6 years and you would be surprised how often this kind of thing happens. It was always pretty easy to tell who was trying to get away with something and who simply forgot.
What she said! That's so awesome they were cordial about it!
I did this yesterday at a coffee shop. I used to work there so I was distracted by chatting with old friends. I grabbed my stuff, went to the car and was ready to pull out when i realized I had never paid. Opps! I went back in and they were all laughing at me.
Glad they were cool about it with you.
of, course we were drunk.
