So my OB foolishly wasted my time for 8 months, but also wasted two cloimd cycles for me... never monitored me... never tested me for anything.. and im going to an RE for the first time today... but kinda nervous that you only get 3 cycles of clomid? (what i've been seeing on this board)
My question- is that always the case... or are you able to have more than 3?
I still have hope for this cycle though- im due for AF in a week and a half or so...
Any experiences would be helpful!

Re: Whats next? How many rounds of clomid is allowed?
You can technically have up to 6 cycles on Clomid but it's normally based on how you respond. Of course you have to be monitored to determine that. Your RE will probably take into consideration that you had two failed cycles with Clomid but that doesn't neccessarily mean you didn't respond. They may do another and monitor closely to determine what may have happened with the last two before making a plan to proceed after that. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but that's my thought.
GL with your RE appt!

I feel the same way as you except I did 5 cycles of Clomid with my OB. I am now seeing a RE and he said I will start Clomid again with my IUI. I did find that it takes 150 mg of Clomid for me to O though, which is good to know now.
I have always heard that you can do 6 rounds of Clomid.

The downfall.. I have no clue how i responded on clomid... which is a bummer... I have PCOS so using the OPK's are never clear cut... I dont believe/trust them.. even though my dr told me to use them... wasted alot of money on them.. when right on the box it says that if you have PCOS or are using clomid results may not be accurate.. go figure.
So Im on cycle day 26.. and im hoping she can take a look with u/s to see if i did ovulate.. but dont know if its too late in my cycle... we'll see i'll update later today...
I have never had butterflies quite like this... so excited to get some answers...

Please dont take this the wrong way but this is exactly why you should be monitored on Clomid. You should be having bloodwork and ultrasounds while you are taking it to see if your follicles are developing, how big they are, how many you are making and to track your LH and P4. Have you done any other testing like an HSG or a SA for DH?
omg i dont take it the wrong way... thats excatly why I called and RE on my own... i knew it wasnt right.. he had no interest in monitoring me... made me waste a ton of money on OPK tests... coming in for visits to "talk". He was after money and thats it... I was really getting bummed out.. and it was stressing me out more not knowing what was up... So i took action on my own.
Nope no other testing besides confirming i have pcos... not even blood work to determine hormone levels...

Im so sorry about that, I imagine it being very stressful! I really hope the RE has a great plan for you. GL at your appointment and good for you for standing up for yourself and moving to an RE!
Dont fret too much about wasted cycles. What's done is done. There are plenty of options left. You can always go to femara instead of Clomid. From what I've read, many women prefer it. It works the same way, there isn't a strict lifetime limit, and there are less side effects.
Good luck with your appt!
Maggie- love the dog... so cute !!
Thanks for sharing that I will ask today about that as well.

I agree with PPs that you really do need to be monitored.
I did four cycles of clomid unmonitored, and I developed massive ovarian cysts (each about 9x7cm). The doctor said I wasnt responding so he kept upping my dose. Turned out I was responding too well and cysts were just getting bigger and bigger every month and now I was diagnosed with OHSS.
That same doctor wanted me on Clomid for 18 months!!! I knew it was a bad idea from the ladies on here. I think the general consensus is that you can be on Clomid for 6 cycles, but if theres no success after the first 3 or 4 then its pretty much pointless to continue.
Good luck with everything

I just bought a BB Thermometer, hoping that will pin point for this upcoming cycle
Will also be monitored this cycle too so that also will help.. ahhh the joys of an RE.
7 more days before I know whether this messed up cycle of clomid worked.. Sign hate the waiting game
