2nd Trimester

Sleeping issues

I'm 27 weeks and between the leg cramps, heartburn and excess weight, I am sleeping so terribly, always tossing & turning. I expected to have issues in maybe month 8 and 9, but not now. Is anyone else having sleeping problems?

Re: Sleeping issues

  • I am. It started last week for me. I talked to my OB and started taking Tylenol PM at bed, (I take two) and it seems to help me get two or three hours, but then for the rest of the night I just toss and turn. its miserable.

Sleep is rare for me these days. Pre-pregnancy I could fall asleep in a snap and was a heavy sleeper, too. I wake up at least 4 times each night these days. I'm betting it's even more. DH and I are not getting much sleep because of this. Sadly, I can fall asleep during the day like it's nobodies business and in general... my 'day' sleep is the most peaceful I've had.

  • I do. The best way to describe it is I have restless leg syndrome for pregnant chicks...I wake up 4-5 times a night and have to move my legs around or it starts to really bother me. I try changing positions, walking around, but usually it just takes some time (10-20 minutes) for it to go away...its miserable...

  • I will occasionally take unisom, and it works really well. You could also take some tylenol before bed. She may be going through a growth spurt! You will probably get a few more weeks of good sleep before the real fun begins.

  • I've been having terrible hip and back pain, but I had these pre-pergnancy. They're just much more intensified now. I'm sleeping on the recliner at night now and that really seems to help. It seems to help the heartburn, too. Good luck, ladies!
