Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Onesies for a 16mo old

Am I am the only one that layers a onesie under LO's clothing? Granted we live in a cool climate so I usually put it under pants/skirt and a top.

Finding Gerber onuses past 18 mo or even Carters ones are hard to find(I like the white ones).

Am I alone here?

  • I also put onesies under his outfits. I also still sometimes use long sleeved onesies instead of shirts. I am usually able to find the packs of short sleeved white Gerber onesies in 24 month size at BRU.

  • I like them for my son, too. Try Baby Gap online, I'm pretty sure they have plain ones, and I think their sizes run big.

    DS2 - Oct 2010 (my VBAC baby!)

  • We've been using onesies under stuff for the winter too. Especially when I know we'll be outside and his belly might get exposed. My DS is still wearing the 18 month Carters ones fine though with a little room to grow (I find they run bigger than the Gerber ones).

They have them online up to 24 months I think. Do you have a Carter's store near you? They usually have all the sizes in stock too. Or Kohls?

  • I don't  usually put onesies on DS to go out, but I do put them under his pajamas since he's not good at keeping a blanket on. I've seen the Carter's ones at Macy's up to 24m, and I know they are at Buy Buy Baby, too (if you have one). I haven't tried them, but the last time I was at Old Navy, I saw they had packs of white ones, and they went all the way up to 2T.
  • I kept DS in onesies until the summer before he turned 2.  He had them in 24 months (I got them at Kohl's), but never really wore them.  I will likely keep DD wearing onesies until it is warm out here...so close to her 2nd bday.  I am a total tank/undershirt person myself, so I am all about it.  AND, I hate to see baby belly skin hanging out in the winter.

  • No, I still put a short sleeved onesie on DD underneath her tops, dresses etc. (unless of course the top I'm putting on her is a long sleeved onesie Stick out tongue).  I went crazy trying to find larger size ones in white at the end of summer but was also unsuccessful.

Lucky for me DD is on the small side and is still able to wear her 6 month size onesies!

  • DS still wears one under his outfit all the time - day and night.  He is a tiny guy, still in 18-month Carters, but I have 2 24-month packs that I got at Kohl's and Marshall's.  I think they really help to keep him warm!  But his MDO teachers seem to think it's odd that he always has one on.

  • I use them on DS, too.  The 24 mo. are harder to find; I've had a little luck at ToysRUs (maybe BabiesRUs, too, but that's far from me and ToysRUs does have a small clothing section).

I also recently found short sleeve, white Gerber onesies at WalMart in a 3T size.  Of course, being Gerber brand, that's more like a 24 mo/2t size but that's what I needed.

  • I use them to layer when it's really cold. I've had no troubles finding them in sizes up to 24 mos.
