Will I ever love my Nook?

I have had this thing for over a year, and I still prefer a real book. I have read 2-3 books on it, but have let more books expire (library borrows) before I could read them than that.

I picked up The Help in Dec and read it within a week, a real book that had been on my book shelf. I thought I was in the swing of reading and got some library books for my nook.....no dice.

I got a b&n gc for Christmas......$50 that I still have not spent. I want to buy real books, not digital books or apps for my nook. I even thought the iphone app for nook would get me reading....read anyplace anytime and it would pick up where I left off from my nook! Nope.

I thought about turning it into an android  but I don't think it would help, I just can't get over my need to hold a real book and turn real pages.

Anyone else have this issue?

  • DH just started using his kindle - I'll have to ask him. I must say though...I love that I don't hear russling pages when I am trying to sleep :) Maybe when you travel with it you will enjoy the lightness.

  • I have a nook color.  I feel a little odd going to the library every week and only getting books for the boys.  But I love reading it.  I did have to start getting selective with the free books.  I wasn't liking them but feeling obligated to finish them if I started.

  • I love using mine. It's so easy to carry around, and when we go to visit family, I don't have to worry about a big chunky book taking up room in my suitcase. I also have a clip-on light, so it's really easy to read when I'm having bouts of insomnia. Don't have to worry about the page-turning waking DH. I got the basic Nook last year, so it's probably a little smaller than the new ones. I don't know. I guess as long as I'm reading something, I really don't care what form it comes in.
  • I don't have one nor do I really want one. The free apps on my phone are fine if I have a book I want to read while I'm at work or something. I like that I have it available all the time.. but if I'm home.. I would rather read a real book I think.. I also like to read in the bathtub but would be too scared to bring a nook or my phone in the tub. The only book I actually read on the kindle app on my phone I had a paper copy too (cuz the library electronic one kept expiring) and I would switch back and forth. Sorta defeats the purpose.
