Calculating Due Date- Irregular Cycle

LMP was 12/17- Cycles vary from 28-45 days

BFP was received 1/24

1st beta 1/26 63.4

2nd beta 1/31 660.9

3rd beta scheduled for tomorrow

Based on the numbers they are guessing 5 wks at this point but won't do an ultrasound to determine due date until 8 wks. My 1st pregnancy they did the u/s at 6 wks and I read online that the earlier you do one the more accurate the due date. Has anyone else had a hard time based on irregular periods getting a due date that seems accurate?

They would be able to get a perfectly good measurement at 8 weeks, not to worry. it sounds like you just ovulated later this time. Congrats!

Yes

My first u/s with DS was at 9w, 2d by my chart. It was supposed to be a week earlier, but we had to reschedule. It showed him measuring at 9w exactly. Considering that the early u/s have a variance of several days, I'd say that's pretty darn accurate. FWIW, by the time he'd reached 12w, he was nearly a week ahead. So, the sweet spot for dating seems to be about 6-9w.

I have irregular cycles as well and had no idea when my due date was with either LO. They did a dating ultrasound at 11 weeks for both. The tech said between 8-12 weeks is the most accurate for dating measurements. Good luck!

I am in the same boat as you, same bfp day;) LMP was 12/20, and my betas were 1/25 291 and 1/27 six hundred something (I was too excited to pay attention). Last pg I had some bleeding and did a really early u/s and this one I won't see my OB until about 10 weeks. It's frustrating, but I just guesstimate as best I can. H&H 9 mos to you! Oh, and I figure I'll be "about" 6 weeks on Fri.

It took 2 ultrasounds to get an accurate date for me. I started at being due August 8th, to being due August 30th. Good luck!

I'm going through this right now. A few drs tried to tell me it's still based on my last period, even though it's totally normal for me to go 4 or 5 months without one! My new OBGYN suspects I am about 5 weeks (same as you!) based on my betas, but still won't give me an estimated due week/month.

Good news is, she said at my first ultrasound (the 14th), I should be far enough along to see the baby and give me a better due date idea. I was told doing it before then would be essentially pointless because the gestational sac would be too small to get a proper idea.

Hmm. I am usually irregular cycles as well. About the same time as you (28-43 days).

My LMP was around 12/3. I had surgery the month prior so I had some spotting up until then so don't know my exact start date. BFP was 1/10. Had my first doctors visit 1/17 and she gave me an ultrasound right there. There was nothing to see. Had beta testing 1/23 and 1/25. Had my 2nd appt yesterday for a follow up ultrasound and saw the heart beat along with due date. I would just tell them you are concerned and request for an u/s. If not switch doctors! Smile

My last period was 11/9 which would have given me a EDD of 8/15. I had my first appt when I should have been 10w0d but the US showed me at 7w4d because of my wonky cycles. My new EDD is September 3rd!

They'll sort it out at you first appointment!
