Doctor says it high!

Hcg #1 22

Hcg #2 149

Hcg #3 1299

doc said that he thought #3 would have been around 500. Is there such thing as to high of a level?

Re: Doctor says it high!

  • This is a pretty good indicator of multiples... Congrats for how ever many babies you are pg with!
  • Loading the player...
  • If #3 was taken at 5 weeks, that's actually the median for 21dpo, so perfectly normal. If it was high (which it's not), that can sometimes be an indicator of multiples, but not always.

  • Sometimes it indicates multiples, and sometimes it's typical of Down's Syndrome. You'll know how many you have soon enough hopefully!

Don't scare her with Down's at 5 weeks. It is more than likely totally normal, OP.

Having super high betas is a sign of multiples. It isn't false. She said he doctor that it was high, no?  She never said how many days were in between the betas.

    Gesshh...

This. At 18dpo, around 4w4d, my beta was over 1000. There is a huge range of normal, and you are just fine. Don't worry.

    Congrats on great numbers!

Where or when did she state her DPO?

That's not super high for 5 weeks though. See the link posted above, it's the median.

I still don't see where she posted what DPO she is. All she said is that her doc said it was high. How do you not know her 3rd beta wasn't taken last week?

Even if it was last week, it's still just on the higher end of normal for a singleton.

Even if it was last week, it's still just on the higher end of normal for a singleton.

Look. Her betas came back around 2.5 times higher than her doc thought it should. If you still think that isn't an indicator than you are nuts. I am not saying she is pg with multiples... I am just saying it is a possibility.

  • We need more information.  When were the betas taken (dpo) and how much time was in between them?

And all we are saying is that yes, it's a possibility, but her beta is really not all that high (depending on when it was done, of course), so she shouldn't run off and panic that she's having twins. And if you read my original post, I sadi that it can be an indicator, but not always. I don't know whay you're getting so worked up about it.

  • Thanks all! #1 and 2 were 48 hours apart and # 3 was 72 hours after. This is my 4th time being PG and never had Hcg before but we did it this time because I had my IUD removed in the end of December and we got our BFP on cycle one and never seen AF so me being 5 weeks is the doctors best guess till my U/S on the 11th!

H&H 9 months to you all I will update you on the 11th!

It would have been more helpful if you told us the date of when they were taken, not just how far apart. I still think your beta is not high enough to worry about multiples at this point.

  • Great beta!!! At 5w 2d I was at 7000+ with a singleton so there is a wide range. As long as they are going up like they are supposed to you are on the right track! Congrats!
