Pregnant after a Loss

swollen gland under right arm

About a week ago I noticed that the gland under my right armpit was swollen and painful, about the same time my breasts also hurt. I assumed it was all related. Now my breasts are fine but the gland still hurts. It is much smaller then it was and I do get the same pain 1-2 days a month with my cycle. At least I have since my last lost.

Anyone else experience this? I know that with all of the hormonal and breast chances it is not uncommon. FWIW I had a breast exam 8 wks ago and will call my OB if it does not go away this weekend.

Re: swollen gland under right arm

  • I haven't had any experience with this, but I wanted to offer up (((hugs)))

  • It sounds to be like a lymph node. I will contact your OB just to be safe. I am sure it is nothing -but it never hurts to reach out.
  • It sounds like the lymph node but I have been told by the OB that I have cysts, I forget the exact name but they are the ones that come and go with your cycle. Mine have always been on the outer part of my breast just into the arm pit area. I suppose a call won't hurt.

  • I had an infected cyst in my right armpit and had surgery to remove it. It was the size of a cherry tomato and although I was given antibiotics first, they didn't fix it completely. It was red and hurt when anything touched it. After the drugs, the pain and redness was gone, but it was still big and bothersome.
  • I have gotten what sounds like the same thing, or something similar anyway.  For me it ended up being an ingrown hair due to my deodorant.  Call the doc & have them check it out for sure.  Good Luck!!

  • I have one under my right arm too. Crazy. My ob told me if it didn't go away to go to my regular doctor, which I just did. She said it is a swollen lymph node but nothing to worry about much. She prescribed me azithromycin for 5 days to help it clear up. She said its safe for my baby, but I still called my ob later to double check:) Hope this helps!

  • I've had something very similar before and it ended up being due to my deodorant, as well. I switched to Dove Sensitive and haven't had a problem since. I would get them 3 or 4 times a year.
