C-sections

Sex Question

It's been 6 weeks today... and I had my PP visit- she said everything looks fine, and I can start having sex again. I was prescribed the mini pill- which makes me nervous (but thats another story!), but was wondering- if it hurt the first time? I am nervous! I pushed for 3 1/2 hours, and baby was in the birth canal... but wouldnt come down, so we had a c-section. Did it hurt? What to expect??

Re: Sex Question

  • I was really surprised that it hurt for me.  I didn't get to the point of pushing, so I wasn't expecting things to be different in that department.

Also, if you are nursing, things can be a little dry, so I suggest lube.

    Good luck!

  • Yes, it hurt. I never even pushed or even got past 4 CM, so I was surprised. If you are BFing that will make it worse. Make sure your DH knows to be slow and gentle.

  • We didn't even attempt until 11 weeks pp.  It was so painful (until about 8 months pp).  I had complications from my episiotomy though.

  • I know he's excited but really you both might have a better experience if you wait until you're excited about it.  We did it as soon as we got the all clear and like other ppers said it's no fun, even with the lube.  I didn't even go into labor; I totally didn't expect it to be so painful down there.

  • I thought it was flippin' fantastic!!  We didn't even need lube or anything.  Apparently, I'm weird lol
  • It did hurt a bit, but more due to nerves than anything else I think.

  • I had an unplanned c/s and never went into labor and sex hurt like hell the first time but I had no problems with pain after that.

  • With my first child, I also pushed for 3 1/2 hours. When I had sex at 6 weeks, it did hurt a little. Not horrible, but it wasn't very comfortable.

With my second child, I didn't have to push and sex felt great.

  • I pushed for only about 20 minutes before needing an emergency c/s (DS heart beat pretty much stopped)

Our first goat sex was probably around the 6 weeks...a bit later. It was like being a virgin again, sort of. Dh had to take it slowly. It initially felt like there was something in the way. I had to relax more and slowly it became much more comfortable. We still can't just go at it like we use to....right at the start, but after a couple of thrusts, it;s all good.

  • I apologize in advance but it hurt for 8 months.

  • It was awesome for us, but I didn't push. I would wait until you feel excited about it and then you should take the lead and guide him so he doesn't go too fast.

  • Didn't hurt, but I had a planned csection.
  • I think that it all depends on you and your body, for me it hurt a lil but we did need lube due to me breastfeeding.

BTW:If your relaxed and ready it will be great Wink

  • It was uncomfortable for me the first few times. I EBF. FWIW, it has nothing to do with how much progress you made in labor. It is due to hormones that it can be uncomfortable or even painful. Being "relaxed and ready," unfortunately does not mean it will be good. Theres really no way to know how it will be for you but trying. Take it slow. Good luck.

  • It didn't hurt for me, but I wasn't really totally into it because my incision area was still hurting to the touch.  We waited about 10 weeks PP to have sex.  I was induced, it took right away, was in labor 26 hours total, including a little over 2 hours of pushing, but he never descended past 0 station.
