Sippy cup help

My daughter is 11.5 months old, and she will drink water from a sippy cup with meals, but not her milk/formula.  She refuses.  Wondering if anyone else is trying this?  To me it seems a little early, but at her day care she insist that she should be doing it already.
Baby #2 on the way!!

Re: Sippy cup help

  • LO drink his formula from the sippy cup but i did have issues with other cups. I use the NUK bottles and tried the NUK sippy cup and that seemed to work for him. Maybe try a different sippy

  • They have the softer top sippy cups (like a PP mentioned, I think mine is Nuk). That way it still has the texture of a nipple, but is a sippy.

DS still has a few months but I know back with DD, I took the bottle away after her 1st birthday. It drives me crazy to see toddlers with bottles! haha

  • I recently weaned my son onto formula (I EBF until he was 9 months). At first he HATED formula. It wasnt that he didn't tolerate it or that it made him sick, he just hated the taste of it. He wouldn't even swallow it. At that point he was drinking water out of the sippy pretty well, so instead of giving him water I only offered formula. I figured if he was thirsty enough and didn't have any other option, he'd drink the formula. It didn't take long before he started drinking it and didnt look like I was trying to poison him. It's not the exact situation as yours, but kind of similar. Just keep offering milk in a sippy instead of water or in a bottle. If you don't give her another option she'll figure it out pretty quickly. Good luck!
