NBR: Prizes ?
We are looking to have a contest at work. I have about $1000 for prizes. Would you do 1 big prize or do 3 or 4 smaller prizes. Any ideas for prizes? I was thinking along the lines of:
Ipad
Ipod touch
Kindle fire
Iphone
maybe visa gift card?

At our office Christmas party, we had a similar prize budget and this is what I remember from the list
Kindle
Nook
Blue Ray DVD Player
Flip video camera
Digital Camera
Bottle of nice wine
Three Extra Vacation Days
Ipod
I'd definitely do smaller prizes so more people win. Maybe you could do 1 or 2 larger prizes and then a few $100 or $50 visa gift cards.
I think the iPad and/or Kindle Fire are good ideas.
ETA: I won a gift certificate to a nice restaurant once which was nice. So, that's another option.
i wouldn't do an iPhone, as that requires a contract with certain companies (unless your company pays for employee cells with those providers?)
i also like the idea of 1 or 2 big prizes and a few smaller ones in varying denominations.
Could you do the iPad as the main prize (half the budget) and then smaller things?

Restaurant gift card (maybe to a place like Great American Restaurants or Jose Andres so they could choose from more than one restaurant?)
Wine tasting or beer making class?
Digital camera
I love the idea of days off of work
You could also do small "consolation"-type prizes like Starbucks gift cards, bottles of wine, movie tickets.
