High Blood Pressure before IVF?

Hi there, just coming over from the IF/3T boards. I know a similar question was asked a couple weeks ago about high blood pressure and getting pregnant, but I was wondering have any of you with a history of HBP had a tremendous blood pressure spike when you were doing IVF?

I have had HBP since I was a kid. It's partly genetic (whole dad's side of family has issues), partly that I could stand to lose a few pounds. It has been controlled by meds for a while (I am on labetalol which is safe to take during pregnancy). Well, my job has been really stressful lately, and I have had to work a lot of overtime so I am not sleeping as well. I know that could contribute to it too. My concern is that each monitering appt I have gone to, my blood pressure has been around 140/98!! I am very concerned that they will refuse to do IVF when I get to that point due to this.

I am planning to see my family doctor tomorrow to see what I can do and if I should up my dosage, but I can't get in till then and I am freaking out a bit. ER will probably take place next Monday or Wednesday. Have any of you been in this position before? How did you handle it? Thanks ladies.

After nearly 3 years of waiting our LO was born December 18th 2012!

    I have hbp but it didn't go any higher during ivf. I don't think they will refuse to do it. But you probably need to increase your dose. How much are you taking now?  I recently had to increase, but I'm already pg.

    I too have HBP since I was a teenager. During BCP and IVF my BP hit some pretty high numbers. It also didn't help that the stims were making me sick so that the only thing I could keep down was egg drop soup. They upped my BP pills during the cycle to accommodate the higher numbers (and told me no more egg drop soup!) The stims will raise your blood pressure.

    IVF #4 October 2012 - New RE. Doing PGD Testing. 8 R, 7F, 2 made it to 5 day blast for PDG testing. Both Normal (Thank you G-d!!!) 1 boy and 1 girl
    transferred one beautiful 5day blast (girl)
    Please G-d the almighty one - let this be our take home baby!

    Stimm will raise your BP. My RE would refuse to cycle till be was controlled.

    Thanks so much ladies. I think it might be the dethamexazone (sp?). I hear steroids can increase it. Either way, I am having the doc up my dosage of labetalol for the time being. Thanks for the advice!

    I believe it's the estrogen, but I could be wrong. Good luck.
