Pregnant after IF

Anyone taking PIO and lovenox (or has in the past) - ?

Do you do the shots at the same time of day?  I have DH give me my PIO at night before bed because we have a long routine (heat, ice, shot, heat again) and I always do my lovenox shot right after.  I was never told that they had to be spaced apart.  It's easier for me to do them both at night since I get up later on the weekends than during the week.

Has anyone been told that this would be a problem?  I looked online and can't find anything about it.  TIA!!

  • I did my PIO at night, but lovenox in the morning. I was told to do lovenox in mornings because my hematologist does bloodwork on me every four weeks to make sure my dose is correct. The blood draw has to be 3 to 4 hours after my shot...so mornings it is. Have you asked your hematologist? (BTW-still soooo excited for you!!!)

  • I have always done Lovenox in the morning because that was on my IVF instructions.  When I was on PIO, I didn't it at night (that was also on my IVF instructions).  I don't know that they have to be spaced a part, though.

ETA - Like labbylover, I have had blood work done to test whether my Lovenox dosage was fine.  Blood for this test had to be drawn 4 hours after the injection.  So, there have been times that the morning is the only time it would have worked.

  • Labby and STL - I called my hematologist just to be on the safe side and they said it was fine to take them both at night.  Although I see how when checking levels that could be an issue.... Hmm...

She wants me to come in within the next month for an appt. so I will do that and I guess see what she says then.

    Thanks for your insight!!

  • I did both of my shots at the same time.  PIO in the butt and lovenox in the stomach. My doctor said this was fine.  He told me just to be careful of bruising from the PIO, if I noticed extremely large or dark bruises (worse than usual) then I would have to switch to supps.  Luckily I made it through.

  • My RE had me doing my lovenox at night with my progesterone and other meds. Once I got off all the meds I switched my lovenox shot to first thing in the morning with my vitamins. I found it easier that way. My hematologist didn't care when I was taking it!!

  • I do both but I take Lovenox twice a day so I have no choice but to take them together at night. My doc told me to do it this way so I wouldn't imagine that it is a problem and my levels have been good. Plus one is in the stomach and the other is in the butt so one really wouldn't effect the other.
