So, have you guys seen Newt Gingrich's latest redunculousness? We're not families. In fact, it's "madness to pretend that families are anything other than heterosexual couples." Right, Newt. I'll take my family values cue from YOU, of all people. Have you started your affair with wife-to-be number 4 yet?
In other news, wise words from my 17-year-old godson: "Anyone who thinks you're not a family or shouldn't be married should spend a day with you guys." Yeah, kiddo. You make me prouder everyday.
Re: Newt Gingrich, general idiocy, and the wisdom of a 17-year-old
Yea, apparently only heterosexual couples can kiss boo-boos, fix healthy meals, hunt for the long lost stuffed animal at bedtime, read Dr. Seuss books ad naseum, actively participate in homework, hem tae kwon do uniforms, cuddle at 3am when everyone in the house is awakened by a fever/bad dream/etc, play Santa, go to church, plan awesome birthday (or adoption, ahem, parties), walk the floors for hours with a colicy crying babies, spend countless hours in the NICU wrought with worry, clean up pee and poop from every corner of your house while PTing, watch the same Caillou/Pokemon/Wiggles episodes so many times that you refer to them in every day life...
yea...dumba$$.
He is an a$$hat!!!
We were in my social work research class working on developing functional definitions for research papers and my group was given family. I swear to god I almost came out of my seat when my classmate (who happens to be a nun) said a man and a woman blah blah blah. I strongly shared my point of you which the rest of my classmates agreed with but I was like uggggg. I am loving my grad program and overall everyone is super open-minded (faculty, staff, and students) and very left leaning but there are a few individuals tossed in because it is a very catholic university that make my blood boil.
I saw that too and it cracked me up.
