Upstate NY Babies

Onesies

On my BMB, one new mom asked if onesies were a necessity. This got me thinking. I mean, of course they are not a necessity per say - as long as baby is clothed, then you are cool. However, it just seems to strange to me that you wouldn't put LO in a onesie. Summertime is the only time C is without them. I got a shirt for her with a funny neckline and I felt so strange sending her out w/o a onesies.

What are your thoughts? Would you skip them?

Re: Onesies

  • Personally I like them because it keeps the belly covered. Also when they are so little and squirmy, I think regular shirts would ride up on them. They are great for layering in the winter too! If I had a summer baby, I would probably still use them, just the short sleeved ones.

  • Ellie wore a onesie 99% of the time until we potty trained her. I guess not necessary, but I liked them

    Agreed

Although I guess I will clarify and say that if he was wearing a "onesie" style shirt then he didn't have the additional white onesie underneath.

  • I don't think they're a necessity but I use them all the time.  I haven't used them with Stella recently just b/c it's a pain for diaper changes, but if Audrey is wearing a regular shirt she has a onesie on underneath.  And she wears one under her pj's every night.  We're using long sleeved ones now but will use short sleeve ones when it gets warmer out.

My thoughts, too. When he was a NB, he was constantly in them plus a blanket those first few weeks because he was so small and had no chub on him, especially when we were inside in the a/c. As he got older, we'd lose the onesies in the summer.
