S/O Weaning: Addicted to Boobs?

I'm not pumping at work anymore, and she does fine with no milk during the weekday. She's FINALLY started eating real food to replace breast milk. We're working on getting her to drink cow's milk, and that's going well.

Our problem is ... whenever I'm around, all she wants to do is nurse. She asks about every 30 minutes! She thinks they should just be on display for her to have a few sips anytime she likes Wink Royal fits follow anytime I try to refuse (usually in public - fun!) and it's definitely interfering with meal time, as she eats less on the weekends and at night.

How can I get her back on a nursing schedule? I'd like to nurse first thing in the morning, when I get off work, before bed (it's the first part of our bed time routine, and is not essential to her falling asleep so I'm not worried about this one), and again when she wakes up once a night. I love nursing and want to continue at least through 18 months. However, I feel like it's gotten a little out of control.

  • I'm about to run out the door, but email me and I'll write you back later today with a good response. We had similar issues and rubes is fine now. Emilia Edmonson at gmail.

  • I don't have a clue (sorry), but was wondering -- how does she ask? Several of my friends have mentioned their LOs do the same, and I don't think L has ever asked! Or if he does I'm not picking up on it? Sorry to hijack.

Ask was me putting it nicely. She says, "Mil mil mil!" over and over again while ripping my shirt off. If my shirt doesn't freely come off, she pulls and stretches and grunts and turns all red in the face, LOL. And if I put her down or say no, well ... you've seen a tantrum, you get the idea.
