Ummm, WTF...Target registry debaucle

so my mom calls me today to say that someone was at Target trying to buy stuff for my baby shower this coming weekend and they called her confused to say that there's a bunch of housewares on there.  things like kitchen table and chair set, bath towels, towel storage racks, spatulas, slotted spoons, welcome mat, potholders, coffee maker, shower curtains, queen size sheets and a mattress cover, etc...

so i go to my registry and there are 47 new items listed on there.  Surprise  apparently someone opened a wedding registry on my baby registry and all her stuff is showing.

Target has no clue how that would have happened and now i need to get on there and delete everything that she added in case some of her family/friends buys it and then it gets shipped to me.  although i don't think anyone will find it because it's under my name, so when they search for her it won't show.  i'm thinking...

crazy, huh?

  • It's probably bad that the first thing I thought was, "Yay! Free s**t!"

I can't imagine how that could have happened.

  • Yeesh, sucks for the both of you!  Building a registry can be so tedious, I'd hate to have to do it twice.  What a weird glitch.

  • That happened to me twice with Target. We registered for all boy stuff, since that's what we're having, and on 2 separate occasions, girl items suddenly showed up and I had to go through and remove it all...

  • How odd! My biggest problem was the website showing that items were in stock at a certain location then people would get there and they weren't.

    But that's just craziness!

  • I'm so frustrated with the Target registry system. I set up my registry online and started adding stuff and when I got to the store, the system couldn't find me and I had to start over. Then at my shower, I got 5 and 6 of certain things because none of it came off the registry. These ppl shopped on different days and turned in the registry at the checkout. I returned $160 worth of duplicate items.
  • I'm not surprised, actually. When we set up our wedding registry and got home to check that everything was there we found a bunch of baby stuff listed! We had to go through and delete it all. I was just happy that I looked right away and not after someone else saw it! I don't think they clear out their scanner guns when they hand them out.

  • My shower was this past weekend and there were numerous items that were purchased off of the registry and the people that bought them knew how the registry system worked and had them scanned at check out.  The items still aren't showing as purchased on there so I ended up with several multiples of things.

This is exactly what happened with my wedding registry. Target SUCKS for registries.

I would leave the iPad on just in case. :)
  • They MUST have set the scanning gun to the wrong account when this other lady went to register.
