Babies: 6 - 9 Months

What age did your LO start rolling back and forth regularly?

Just wondering.  We are going through the rolling phase right now.  He's 4.5 mos. and a belly sleeper.  We thought he had it figured out since he was able to roll back onto his belly after rolling onto his back in the middle of the night.  He put himself back to sleep three times the other night doing this.  We were celebrating because it was the first time he did this.

Now, however, he will only roll left to right.  Not right to left.  It's like he can't go that way.  We've been practicing with him during the day, and he's getting a little better.

  • About 4.5 months :)

  • He was just shy of 6 months when he would roll all over in either direction regularly.  He was rolling here and there around your DC's age, but when he do it to get around from place to place it was 6 months.
  • Ugh DD will be 7 months on Wednesday, and we still have no rolling in any direction.

DD just really started  rolling this week.  I had seen her do it once or twice before, but nothing consistent.

  • DS is barrel rolling across the room all.day.long... except, like yours, he only goes one direction, right to left. So it's roll, roll, roll, roll, ooops, he's going to bump into something, back to the beginning... fun stuff. He's 6 months old tomorrow.

Thank you, you have made me feel better :) She rolls to her side, but she doesn't roll all the way over. And tummy time is just an absolute mess, she screams and refuses to do anything but pick her head straight up.

DS took FOREVER to roll. But he was running by 11 months. Be careful what you wish for ;)

DD can roll now as of this weekend. She "forgets" that she can go belly to back sometimes but she can do both directions.

  • He's 6.5 months and still only goes one direction.  He actually just started getting good at that within the past 2 weeks.

  • By 4.5 months our DD could roll in either direction, but she never rolls around on the floor.  She'll immediately roll from back onto her belly, but very rarely roll back onto her back.

  • DD has been rolling since she was 4 months but only in the last month or so has she been rolling all around everywhere to get to things.  So I'd say 6.5 months.

  • I think around 4.5 months. But she still prefers to roll to one side over the other. Can't remember which way she goes though now!

  • DS rolled front to back at 9 weeks, but only occasionally after that. He rolled back to front around 4.5 months (after weeks of rolling onto his side and getting stuck). It was a few weeks after that that he was consistently rolling both ways. Now we are lucky if we can keep him on his back for a diaper change!!

  • About 4.5 months, but for a while he would onlg go in one direction or wouldn't move that fast. But now hes a little mover! He's been rolling ALL OVER the place since about 6-6.5 mo.
