A little back info... When DS was born he was in the NICU for 5 days. BF was a very strict schedule of every 3 hours, then pumping afterwards. DS had so many issues latching on that most BF sessions lasted anywhere from an hour to hour and a half then pumping took about 20 minutes. I made it with about 10 hours of sleep those 5 days. I though when I came home it would be better, but it really wasn't. When he was a month old I just about broke down one night and decided I was done with BF. I talked with my pedi and since DS has reflux we put him on Enfamil AR. I was going to completely give up BF, but ofcourse changed my mind the next day, so I BF once then FF the next and so on. I started back to work today and realize that I made a mistake. I can't believe I gave up on BF so early. When I pumped at work I only got 3 oz total and I was so upset. Is there anyway to build up my supply and go back to EBF? I know it won't be easy with being back at work, but I really want to get rid of the formula. Do you think my supply is already too low if I BF him at 6:30 am and didn't pump til 3:00 pm and only got 3 oz.? Any suggestions or advice would be great...
Re: Made a mistake...
Start pumping!! I'm not sure, but I think since you're still making a little bit, you can get it back up. Also, when you're with him, try putting him at your breast, even if you have to do it all evening. Do this on the weekends too. BF is all about supply and demand.
Check out kellymom.com, I think there are some articles about upping your supply. Don't give up!
