So, confession time - H is on a late schedule. She typically goes to bed around 10:30/11 and sleeps until 9:30/10 in the morning. She fell in to that schedule very early on and we never tried to change it because she wasn't having to get up for daycare, so why bother?
Well, now she's going to start going to daycare 2 days a week and I'd like to have her there earlier than when she gets up so I'm thinking now is a good time to start moving up bedtime to a more decent hour (and give DH and I some kid-free time before we have to go to bed)
How do I go about doing this? She's still taking 2 naps a day, though I think we might be starting a transition down to 1. (some days she doesn't sleep for the 2nd one in which case we put her down for the night a smidge earlier, but other days she takes 2 no problem) I'd like to try to get her in bed at about 9 I think. Do I just gradually move up bedtime by a few minutes each day? Or do I bump it up like by 20 minutes and stick there for a week or two and then move it again? Help!
Re: Need help adjusting bedtime
I think either of those will work; for daylight savings, I do 10mins a night for a week.
What time is her 2nd nap? Will she be in a room at DC that has structured naps or is each child allowed to nap whenever she wants?
I'd go for at least 8pm bedtime, if not earlier.
I find that adjusting bedtime by 15 minutes a night, or every 2 nights, works well.
It's late - 6 to anywhere from 7:30-8. So, am I supposed to adjust everything? Like, get her up 15 mins early, bump up naps, bump up bedtime? Or just start getting her up early and to bed early and let the naps sort themselves out? (the latter sounds like a recipe for disaster!)
I know she's not ready for just one nap so I feel like I need to adjust everything earlier to make sure she's getting the sleep she needs...
