Wondering if anyone else has read up on fresh pineapple to help induce labor? I went to the doctors last Friday and was softened but had not "lowered" at that point. I've been battling pre eclampsia and been in and out of the hospital after every doctor's appointment. So, I was reading on ways to help induce labor that were natural/safe because I keep getting told I could be induced anytime. I heard fresh pineapple due to an enzyme in it helps soften the cervix and helps move things along... Well I ate about 3/4ths of a pineapple late last night and woke up at approx 2am with slight cramping and light spotting... I was sooo excited, so pretty much all morning I had this light spotting and I could feel my pelvis get pressure and back go tingly/numb but contractors were about 25 minutes apart and lasting about a minute. I went to my doctors around 10am today for my appointment and the contractions I had were pretty much gone so obviously they were BH. But she told me I've lowered and softened and my spotting stopped... I'd like to thank the pineapple... but I'm not dialated yet SO- I'm on to eating my second pineapple now... and 2 hours later I am spotting again and my contractions are back!!!!!!!!
Re: Fresh Pineapple to induce
I just ate some pineapple at lunch. Shoot, shoulda eaten more!
I hope you go into labor soon!
I ate a whole (small) pineapple the other night, and had surges for about 24 hours afterwards. Sadly, they stopped last night when I went to bed.
I've been trying to keep myself up and about, doing light chores and things (like making perogies...), but so far nothing today. I was so sure I'd be at least a few days early!! Tomorrow is a new day, though!
and I'm glad the pineapple seems to be working for you! I really do hope you have your baby soon, and get to thank pineapple for more than just a little assistance!
Has to be fresh pineapple! Can won't work!! Let me know what happens

Red raspberry leaf tea does not bring on labor. All it does is tone the uterus to make your contractions more effective once you go into labor.
One of my MW actually said that she personally thinks that it makes some FTMs go post date (and she has been a MW for 30 years).
I also heard it tones the uterus and is known to help it contract after labor, but not induce labor...
