Who's in the Boise area?

Hi! Just wondering who else is out there in the same area I am. Do any of you have any past experiences with great childbirth classes? I'm starting to looking into some. I know it's early, but I am a planner! : )

Re: Who's in the Boise area?

  • I'm in Nampa/Caldwell area!  But we're still TTC with our 1st, so I have no idea either!  Sorry!

  • Hello. I skipped the whole birth class thing. My Dr. told me what to do and I did it. We are going for the same route this time also. It saves a bunch of money in the end unless your insurance will cover it.

  • hi :) I'm in Meridian, and took classes from St. Lukes downtown and they were fine

  • I also took classes at St. Lukes but mine were at the Meridian location. I already knew a ;ot of what they went over, but they really helped me feel more prepared. My Jonah babe is one week today :)

  • We took the childbirth prep class thru st. lukes, I liked it because it helped prepare for both natural and medicated birth. Their baby care basics is a waist of time. basically if you know how to diaper a baby you can skip the class.

  • I think this really depends on what kind of birth you're looking to have, but I completed the Hypnobirthing course through St. Al's with my first. It was valuable in that it offered me more information than the book, but I wouldn't say that it's necessary for everyone.
  • Also in the Boise area but we are TTC right now.  I have heard great things about the St. Als birthing classes.

  • I had my baby at St. Luke's downtown.  The classes they offered were good.  I am not a firm believer in their need.  When I go through childbirth, I am not thinking about how to do it right.  But, that is just me!

If you are doing maternity or newborn pictures, take a look at my blog for ideas. I LOVE this kind of stuff and often post ideas.  I love photographs of the babies from birth through the first year.  They are much more meaningful than pictures of other items and babies love seeing themselves and other babies.

I also post ideas on my blog about how to frame and display portraits properly, how to photograph children and babies better, and new and exciting photography products!  Check it out sometime:

  • i'm in the boise area 11 weeks.
  • I'm in Nampa.  I took Hypnobirthing at St. Al's with my son.  St. Al's was amazing for us! Looks like we are expecting our second.
  • I took a class with my first. It was around $50 and I don't think I'll be doing it again.  They give you good information but when it came down to labor itself it didn't make a difference.

It DID give good info of what to expect but I don't think it helped me get through the pain of labor any better.  Very informative though.

    Good luck.
