Ugh -- frustrating day (to say the least) [updated]

So I woke up this morning and POAS (I'm 13 days post iui) and I really thought I saw a faint line on my internet-cheapie Wondfo stick -- a faint line that wasn't there yesterday.  My husband thought he saw it, too.  The "line" was *extremely* faint, though, so faint that fortunately I didn't get too excited -- but I was excited enough that I went in for a beta one day early, around lunchtime.

The nurse called me late this afternoon and said the results were negative.  Which must mean I was seeing things, since if the beta was positive, even if very low, I assume they would have told me(?).  [ETA:  What I mean is, I know clinics generally say <5 is negative, though I suppose theoretically on a super-sensitive pregnancy test even a super-low HCG level could produce a line.  Unlikely, but of course I'd prefer an explanation that wouldn't suggest I'm off my rocker.]  Of course when I was on the phone with the nurse I was too flustered to ask questions.

I'll POAS again tomorrow to see if my (imaginary) line gets any darker, but barring a pretty convincing positive it looks like I'm out this cycle.  I just feel so stupid for getting my hopes up.  Bloody hell.

oh sh*t - those faint lines are the WORST! Ugh - I've had those squinty lines twice. They are horrible. I am very, very sorry.

I hope today gets better and that you do nice, relaxing things for yourself tonight. But do POAS tomorrow just in case. You never know...

Do not feel stupid! I think all of us would do the same thing if we saw a faint line. I'm crossing my fingers for a darker line tomorrow.

Sorry you're going through that. You're not off your rocker...I had a super faint line (it was thin too) on a Wondfo ~12dpo last cycle. Spent the next few days trying FRERs and digis,  all neg.  I made up my mind not to use the Wondfo pregnancy tests anymore. I hear your frustration and I hope you get that positive tomorrow.

Thanks, you guys.  I came home and looked at my tests from this a.m. again (I dipped two Wondfos) and there is definitely a faint line there.  Of course now it's totally dried out -- but I don't think Wondfos usually get evap lines (do they?).  Super-faint, but the same thickness as the control.  I am so confused.  If it gets darker tomorrow, I'll ask for another beta (I have an appointment with my RE so I'll be in the office anyway).  If not -- I guess it will be a mystery for the ages.

And now of course I wish I had stopped and bought FRERs on my way home -- but I told myself that was stupid and not to hold out hope and spend more $$.  Ah, well.

No darker today -- maybe no line at all (or kind of the barest shadow of a line, but I don't really trust my own eyes today).  I did read something online last night to the effect that in a c/p HCG actually disappears faster from the blood than the urine, though, so maybe that's one possible explanation -- a very brief c/p that was gone before the blood test.  Who knows.  In any event, it was fun while it lasted.  (Not really!)  :-P

Hoping your eyes weren't playing games with you and that it is just that it is too ealy for a dark line and a positive blood test!

I'm sorry. I had that happen on our 2nd IVF - very, very faint line two days before beta that was gone the next day. It sucks because no matter how hard you try to keep your hope in check, you can't help but get excited only to get crushed. Hugs.
