Hi, my name is CA2006 and I have a swing addict

DD is a total swing nap addict.  She will sleep fine in her crib at night and probably would sleep in her crib ok for naps, but it takes forever to get her down there and the swing will knock her out in minutes.  In the swing, she will stay asleep for up to 2 hours.  Crib? 45 min. At daycare she sleeps in a PnP and does just fine.  She totally has our number.  But if it aint broke, why am I supposed to fix it?

  • I think it's only out of concern for when she grows out of the swing. But it sounds like she sleeps fine elsewhere at other times so if you're ok with a little withdrawal when she hits the weight limit, I don't see what the issue is.

  • Hi my name is rockdragon and I also have a swing addict lol. We are working on moving her out of it but she loves it so much and it is the only reason she will nap for more than 20 minutes at a time.

  • I say roll with it...or swing with it!  Har har har.  I'd use that baby until LO outgrew it.  My LO was a vibrating chair addict.  He STTN in it overnight and I finally had to transition him since he was 1 1/2 lbs away from the weight limit and was starting to look cramped.  If it ain't broke, don't fix it!  Unfortunately, I'm thinking of packing up my swing since my LO doesn't really seem interested in it anymore.  It's way much more fun to go in the exersaucer or the jumper than just to hang in the swing.

  • My DS is also a swing addict! It tough with my toddler to put him in for a nap in his crib. Like your DD he does fine in his crib at night and STTN. I think it's mostly because I'm lazy! I recently started transitioning him to his crib for naps. Yesterday was a breakthrough... He went down awake and napped for 1 1/2 hrs. I had to wake him because it was close to bedtime. Then today he napped for an hr and also went down awake. I'm just not being consistent. Lucky for us he's nowhere near the weight limit... He's still under 11lbs.
  • OMG us too! Our LO is a total swing addict. He STTN in his crib just fine but will not nap anywhere else but the swing during the day. Why do they do this?? Daycare even had to ask our permission to let him sleep in the swing because it's the only way he'll nap for them too. We've tried the crib or PNP and he'll only sleep for maaaybe 20-30 minutes before she starts waking up and fussing. In the swing he will go 2-3 hours. Twice a day sometimes. I don't know what we're going to do when he outgrows the swing... I'm praying he'll outgrow the swing phase before that time... yeah right.

  • Yep.  Exact same boat as all other pps here. Sigh.  I stress about it immensely, because the harness is already tight around my little chunky monkey's belly and I think she will be outgrowing it very soon.  I try to put her down in her crib for atleast one nap a day, so hopefully consistency and time will work in our favor.
