Breastfeeding

hanging up the pump..

I haven't been around in a few months but just had to be an AW and say that after 12 months I am hanging up the pump.  It's beeen painful these past 2 days thanks to engoregment but atleast I can take advil without worry.

It has not been an easy 12 months and many times I wanted to pack it in.  Some days I hated my pump, wanted to throw it out a window and never look back.  These are the things I've learned or came to realize

To those moms who are pumping... Do not feel guilty because you can't BF or didn't want to.  There is nothing wrong with being an EP or a partial pumper.  Even an ounce is better than nothing.  Be proud of what you are doing for your child.

When you are frustrated with your pump take a moment to yourself. It is important to view yourself and your breasts as something more than feed bags.  Set small goals and also keep in mind what your ultimate goal is.  I knew I wanted to hit a year but also worked it 3 months at a time.

  • Congrats! I only pump while at work, but I cannot wait to stop in another 3 months. Good for you for keeping at it!

Thank you for this. I needed to read this. I have recently started pumping rather than BF because I am in so much pain. I needed the reassurance and way to go for doing it for 12 months! Wow!
