My RE started me on Lovenox (40 mg) when I was 6 weeks. I saw my OB for the first time last Friday at almost 9w, and she said that there are more studies that show that Lovenox is not needed during PG. She said I only have to take it in my first tri.
Anyone else have a similar experience? Just wondering what your experiences are.

Update: I saw the MFM today, and he looked at all of my b/w and said it wasn't necessary for me to continue on the injections. My belly is so happy! I'm glad I got a second opinion.

It depends on why you are taking it. My OB thought I would be on it but the MFM told me a baby aspirin b/c I had a lesser form of a clotting disorder, she sighted the studies you mentioned. That said I got a second opinion to verify.
I would make another appointment with your RE or call and explain your conversation with the OB. Typically as wonderful as they are, OB's aren't always the best source of information in pregnancies that are not typical/normal.

Do you see a hematologist? A lot of OB's are not that familiar with clotting issues and how long you should be on lovenox. I also have hetero factor v and my hematologist wants me to be on lovenox until 6 weeks pp. Later in pregnancy is actually when you are more at risk for developing blood clots in the placenta and cord. Also, in the 6 weeks after pregnancy there is a bigger risk to you to develop blood clots. I would consider talking to your RE again like pp suggested and/or talking to a hemotologist.

Thank you. I talked to my RE's nurse, and they suggested getting a second opinion from an MFM - so I have an appointment on Thursday.

I also have factor v leiden... my RE and OB both thought baby aspirin was sufficient, but my OB sent me to a peri just in case. We are going with his rec to start the lovenox at 16 weeks until 6 weeks pp.

I hope you get the answers you need. I love my MFM, she is awesome and I always take her advice over my OB (though great as well). Sometimes she is more conservative but honestly at this point I am ok with that.
