Just a lil vent

So my baby shower is this weekend. About a week or so after the shower invites went out my MIL asked if I invited her "Best Friend" Karen. I said "Oh no! I asked DH if we should and to ask you and he said No! I'm sorry" and asked her if she still wanted me (well to tell my host to) to send her an invite? She said "yes". No prob., so I tell the host of shower to send one to her. 

Fast forward to yesterday, the deadline for RSVPing. She never responded. So I called my MIL and just asked if she has heard anything from her "Best friend" Karen. If she got the invitation, yada yada yada. She goes "Oh no, I haven't talked to her since before Christmas. She never answers her phone" ...............

UMmmm Whaaaaa?? Why did you make me invite this woman. Whom I do not know (granted she did come to our wedding, first and only time I have met this woman). I feel like I have come off as a gift grabby biotch!! I told my DH this and he says "That is exactly why I told you why we didn't need to invite her. I know they don't talk often anymore"

*Sigh*

    Oh that sucks!  I'm sure the woman doesn't think it was you that invited her though--she probably assumes it's her "Best Friend" that wanted her included. 

    Don't feel gift grabby!  You're not! If you invited your childhood neighbors you haven't seen since you were 9, well, then, yes, you are. Stick out tongue

    Ya I feel like she just wanted to have some "Friends" Support being this her first grandchild and her being excited. I just wish she would at least CALL the woman and gab with her about it so it wasn't so out of the blue lol

    Yeah, this reminds me of my husband's grandmother...she has a different "best friend" every few months, and you never know if and when they are on speaking terms...geezh!

     Nevertheless, I hope you have a wonderful shower!
